What hairstyle is best for giving birth??

36 weeks today, being induced next Saturday & now I can actually plan it, I'd like to go and get my hair done before I go into hospital.

Something that will keep all my hair out of my face for at least 5 days ideally!

I was thinking French plaits??

I just can't bear ANY of my hair touching my face or neck!

Can it be something you can do yourself? There could be a lot of "five days" to go!

When I've been in hospital (not giving birth) I've done two really tight French plaits with metal free bands in - comfier for lying on than one plait. If you want it off your neck then take some Kirby grips and pin the ends up? Bit of hairspray/dry shampoo and maybe a fabric elastic hairband for any straggles and you should last a few days.

I will be induced by Tuesday at the latest, as it's medically needed. So although it may be Saturday, sun, mon or Tuesday....I won't go to full term as I need it done sooner due to OC

Yes to the French plait as well. Think I had mine in for 4 days and only took it out so I could wash my hair while still in the hospital. Then I put in another French plait that lasted another 4 days...this pattern was repeated for a month, give or take!

I wish I could do French plaits Sad no one I know can do it either!

So was going to go to a salon, ask them to do it on the day I actually get told to go into hospital....but use gel, mousse, hairspray to keep it all in long enough. As il wear tights to keep it in longer lol

I did two French plaits in my cousins hair, did them quite tight so they stayed in quite well. She had hers in for around five days.

I can't do French plaits on my own hair so I had mine in a tight fishtail braid. But I was in hospital for 4 days being induced so plenty of time to plait my hair!

Oh I wish I had a friend who could come up & do it for me!

I can do fishtail but not on my own hair.

Maybe il text around see if there's anyone who lives near the hospital who'll come up to do it for me!

Otherwise as soon as I get the go ahead on the morning, il go to a salon to get it done.

I planned to have French braids ... in the end, gave birth with my hair down, sweaty, all over my face and driving me up the bloody wall! Especially as I kept vomiting... Poor DP was holding it all back but i can clearly remember asking the nurse for a bobble between contractions ... there wasn't time for one! DS was born 10 mins later Grin

Don't stress about this. I just shoved mine in a low pony tail, I don't think I brushed it for about two weeks (in my defence I was very, very ill and sedated much of that time) . Genuinely didn't give a shit. None of the women on the ward did. And I don't think anyone noticed what the others hair looked like. It really was the least of our concerns.

Good luck next sat and don't worry about your hair..💐

I thought I'd roll my eyes at this thread after reading the title, but it's genius. I wasn't allowed shower for a week with my son born on day 5 of that week buby emcs, I felt absolutely manky and while nobody else thought my ponytail looked gross it felt gross, flat and greasy. If I have an elcs this time I am totally doing this.

Can you not just tie it back in a hair elastic?

It was a messy bun here! Fixed myself in between contractions! When it all starts you really won't care about your hair so go with what is comfy.

I normally throw it on top of my head, obviously whilst not in pain or trying to push a baby out, I am aware of how I look.

I do expect once I go in, I simply won't give a crap.

I am going to gel, mousse & hair spray the shit out of it & then wrap it in a silk/satin scarf at night when I sleep!

I cannot bare/bear (omg which one?? It's just left my head as to which one to use!!!!! Baby brain is happening! It's real!) the though of it being in my face.
