13 weeks is it worth calling midwife?

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and have had a bit of bleeding on and off this evening and have some pains. I'm unsure about what to do and if I should call the number in my folder or wait and see how it goes. As it's so early I'm assuming the midwife will tell me there is nothing they can do if I'm going to miscarry and not sure if it's worth calling them? Anyone else had bleeding around this point?

No midwife would be mad you rang. . . Please ring her. .

Hoping all is well for you both.

Does your local hospital have an early pregnancy unit? If so I'd call them. Hope all works out OK, my best friend bled for almost her whole pregnancy and all was well for her.

Ring your midwife I bled at 7 weeks and she referred me to the epu. Have you had your first scan?

I'd call either your local EPU or the number on your folder.
Good luck

My epu said they want you to wait until you're soaking g a pad and hour, or something like that. There's no way I could have just sat waiting for that, so I went in. Sat night and I managed to get a scan too. Thus was at 15 weeks. All was fine. I think it's OK to be pushy as nobody is going to prioritise your health more than you. Good luck. It's awful .

I had bleeding at 11 weeks, and to be honest the midwife was worse than useless, couldn't book me into epu or do anything, just said I'd need to see my GP or go to A&E - I'm sure that varies though and yours might be much better. There's nothing they can do if it is a miscarriage sadly, but personally I just wanted to know ASAP. Have you had a scan or do you have one coming up? I hope that it ends well for you.

At this time of day I'd say you'd have more success with ringing an out of hours GP as they can ring the EPU to get you booked in for a scan if necessary. Your GP Practice website should have some details on contacting a GP out of hours.

Thanks for the replys.
Yes I've had my 12 week scan and all looked fine.
I rang the assessment unit this morning and they said that because the red blood has eased off to brown now and the pains aren't worse they won't see me there but I could go to a&e. I've booked a private scan for this evening instead of going to a&e.
Thanks again

Hi Bobbins, glad to hear bleeding has eased off. At 14 weeks, after a good 12 week scan, I had a lot of dark red blood with clots. I ring hospital (as it was 5am) and they asked me to come in. All they did was listen for heartbeat and check cervix. I bleed for 2 weeks dark red/black/brown blood.

Just had 20 week scan and all is well. I also bought at an home doppler so i could check heartbeat myself while i was still bleeding.

Hope all is well at your scan tonight!

I'm not sure if that was autocorrect or I've completely lost the ability to type! Apologies for all the typos - must proof read before posting and not after in future!
