Pregnancy

If you were late with your last baby would you say it's likely you'll be late with your next?

All things the same
Same dad
Same gender
Same pregnancy and job type

Or would you say all pregnancies should be treated completely different?

I'm getting so close to the big day but have so far assumed I will go 2 weeks over and be induced again

Hmmmm??

Well I've only had one child so I've no experience but my mum had three children all with the same man and:

Baby 1: due date
Baby 2: week late
Baby 3: week early

So no pattern.

No
Each pregnancy and birth is unique
Ds was 4 days late
My next was born on her due date

Sorry probably not what you want to hear, but mine were later and later with each one.
DS1 11days overdue (8lb 1oz)
DD 13 days overdue (5lb 12oz)
DS2 15 days overdue (9lb 7oz)

I have a friend who was 37 weeks for her first and 42 weeks for her second, so they don't always follow!

Yes I'm afraid! Each of mine were later than the previous

ImtheSantaAnaWinds · 13/03/2017 20:42

All 3 of mine fit your criteria and all were late!

Greenvalleymama · 13/03/2017 20:43

I would expect to be late if your first one was, and then any earlier is a bonus. Those weeks waiting around for a baby are long enough, without telling yourself at 37 weeks that baby could come any day now!!

I was induced first time and felt sure second time (same gender) would be the same. But second one was 3 days early....

My first was 8 days overdue, and my second was 3 days overdue.

Mine have different circumstances - same father but different sex and I was office based with my first, and a SAHM with the second - so a LOT more active generally throughout the day with DC2 though, though very fit generally when I was pregnant with DC1.

However I was two weeks late with DC1 - my son. So not even remotely close to my due date and I had to be induced. And it still took 30 hours and forceps after two hours of fruitless pushing. I wasn't even remotely ready to give birth.

DC2 - DD - went into spontaneous labour after walking up a hill at 38 weeks. Five hour natural labour at home in my pool.

Currently approaching 38 weeks with DC3 - another girl - and trying not to think it will be the same. Because I agree with a PP that each baby and each pregnancy is unique. My pregnancy with my two daughters have been completely different - I've been sick throughout this pregnancy and not sick at all with my first daughter.

Maybe some people have the same gestation lengths for all their pregnancies but I think it's probably as likely as not i.e. For those that do, there's just as many that don't.

I went 11 days over with dd1. Currently 38 weeks with dd2 and was fully expecting to go over again but there is now talk of inducing me either early or at term so I'm a bit disappointed to not find out if I would go over or not!

It was true for me.
1st was 7 days late.
2nd was 11 days late.
3rd was a planned c/s on his due date, where I happily walked into hospital with no signs of labour whatsoever; I dread to think how late and big he would have been if I'd let him decide when to come!

DC1 40 + 1
DC2 42 weeks
DC3 due date

Same gender. I was so convinced that DC3 would be as late as my previous baby that it was a huge shock when I went into labour on time.

1st-6 Days late
2nd-6 days late
3rd-13 days late

I'm betting I go over again with this one!

Same criteria as you said (dad, gender, job, only 2 yrs apart), 10 days late with first, 5 days early with second. Who knows! Babies always like to keep you on your toes so it will be whatever you least expect :)

I'm liking VamonosPest's reply, hope I experience similar.

DD1 - due date
DD2 - 17 days late

I really hope this one isn't quite so late.

DD - 1 week late
DS - 1 week late labour began (was born +8 days in the end, just after midnight)
So although I believe each pregnancy is unique, seems by coincidence I am precise!

True for me but less 'late' each time- ds1 term +15, ds2 term +10, ds3 term +4.

Heatherbell1978 · 14/03/2017 12:01

DC1 was 1 week late
DC2 was born on due date (2 weeks ago).

I had a feeling DC2 would arrive earlier; I felt much heavier and had a lot more pressure down below for a few days before she arrived

Dc1 - dd - 10 days late, induction then emcs
Dc2 - ds - 10 days early, waters broke when I got up early in morning (admittedly had dtd and had curry night before Blush) he was VBAC but forceps. I hadn't even packed my hospital bag as was booked in for an elective at 40+7 and was convinced he'd be late, can still remember wandering around house finding stuff for my bag, in between throwing up, and my PILs flapping around like loons Grin

No, mine got progressively earlier:

  1. induced at 5 days late due to high BP
  2. born on due date
  3. 5 days early

Meets your criteria except DC2 was a girl, others boys.
