Not felt any kicks today

Background:
Monday I went into assessment unit as i had been feeling kicks & movement but very few & far between, led on my left side for 2 hours but very faint movements & not the 10 the midwife wanted.
So I went in, hooked up to a monitor & he suddenly woke & and kicked loads....midwife thought it may be that he was kicking towards my back so I couldn't feel it.

Had a scan next day, all was fine.

Yesterday he was really active kicking loads & today nothing.

What do I do?? I've already been in this week & been told all is fine!

Oh, I'm 34 weeks

Hot drink followed by cold drink might get him moving, otherwise call your midwife

It doesn't matter if you've been in every day this week. Do just what Gow says.

The advice from 'kicks count' is to contact your midwife and/or go to hospital to get checked out if kicks stop or reduce. Even if you've already been this week, the advice is still to go, they won't think you're overreacting!

Contact your midwife for reassurance.

It's times like this having a friend with a stethoscope helps.

I guess I'm worried as my sister put "paranoid Mum" into my head.
Said she was worried they'd write it all over my notes if I kept going in 😔 it's so difficult!!

They wont, and you are entitled to be paranoid at 34 weeks, has he moved yet?

Go in. Just go in.

MumBeth · 03/03/2017 16:15

They wonr put that on your notes but even if they did put that all over your notes it wouldn't stop them from having to do their job which is to ensure you and baby are healthy and that you are reassured. X

I really really hope you don't mind me saying highinthesky, but the advice is also not to use a doppler or stethoscope in this situation. This is because a heartbeat even if a heartbeat is detected the baby may well still need help and it still needs to be assessed by a midwife/hospital.

Best thing in these situations is to always get checked out for reassurance that all is well.

I've been feeling some movement more swishes than kicks, not as much as yesterday.

Please don't wait till tomorrow. Please don't. Go to your triage now. I don't want to worry you but I can't stress enough how important and urgent it is to contact your triage asap.

I really wish all mothers to be would stop worrying about what midwives think and concentrate on the issue.

I had many a snotty midwife when I went in for no movements but having nearly lost dc1 I had no problem remembering this was my baby, they wouldn't remember us if something went wrong, and I put them straight if they implied I was paranoid.

Any change, be it less kicks or more, need checking out.

I agree you need to be seen Karma. Have you had this issue before monday?.

OP please PLEASE call them now

Please don't risk it - no one would think badly of you even if you went in everyday!

Do not wait till tomorrow! As bumblebee said look on the kickscount website! This is the worst thing you can do..everything may be ok but you need to make sure..please please get looked at now! Who cares if they think you are being a worried mum..I would rather that and know everything was OK than the alternative! Please OP!

Please don't wait until tomorrow, I went twice in one day when I was pregnant with my son! It's not worth the risk honestly the midwives won't bat an eyelid, I don't mean to upset/scare you but the 4th time I went in was when complications were detected, please ring them now.

Hope you've been checked out and all is well. Always always get it checked. I found fizzy drink got my dc1 kicking.

Please get it checked out. It really is a case of better safe than sorry.

I had my DS2 by EMCS this summer at 37 weeks, as I had a period of decreasing movements over the course of 3 or 4 days. I had no movements at all on the day he was born, from the moment I woke up, despite doing all the usual tricks. I went in for a check and less than 4 hours later I had the EMCS. There had been a very rare complication and he was very poorly when born. He probably wouldn't have survived much longer. I am so thankful I was checked when I was, as it could have been so easy to think that I shouldn't bother anyone with it. Fortunately he is absolutely fine now.

If I had been wrong and it was a false alarm, then no harm would have been done.

Go in and get it checked. As someone who works in this field it's not worth not getting it checked out.

Il give the midwife a quick call, then pop in

I love my DSis but she makes me feel so bloody silly!
Told me the midwives are just scaremongering & that as long as I've felt 1 kick today, I shouldn't worry until tomorrow however as long as I feel 1 kick between now & tomorrow then it's fine.

Please don't listen to your sister, you mustn't wait until tomorrow. Glad you're giving your midwife a call Smile

Take a look at kicks count. The midwife is wrong to say you need to feel at least 10 kicks. So is your sister. Every babies kick pattern is unique so it might be normal for one person to have a few kicks movements in a day and another to have a more active baby at night for example. Please call your midwife/maternity unit.
