I'm not dieting just eating less calories in the day by counting calories and eating slightly below my calorie requirement as I am overweight (5'4.5 height and 70 kg weight). So replacing u healthy stuff with fruits dates, eggs, veg, soups etc and having glass of water before meals. Aim is to lose 0.5 kg a week Is it safe to do that ? 4-5 weeks pregnant
Don't get too obsessed with the numbers. Your BMI is only 26 (I think) so you don't want to lose much. Too low is as bad as too high with regard to your baby. I doubt the calculator is calibrated for early pregnancy. You don't know how being pregnant will impact on you. You may develop horrible hyperemesis (excessive pregnancy sickness) in which case you will eat anything you can tolerate and lose any reserve fat you have. You may find you retain a lot of water and always feel bloated. You may be permenantly exhausted, healthy diet will help but calorie counting may not. You may find yourself more anxious or easily upset than normal in which case any perceived failure regarding your weight can impact your mental health. What I'm trying to say is eat healthily and don't set too many firm targets. You could have a look at slimming world, I have a midwife friend who rates them as good in pregnancy (I'm sure it depends on the branch) and says they focus on not gaining excess weight rather than actual losing weight.
Were you checked for gestational diabetes? It can be to do with high BMI but can also just be a genetic predisposition, eating healthily might stop it but isn't always enough. I knew a tiny woman who developed it (think size 0). I'm sure you'll be investigated for it this time with such a big baby before. If they think you have it you'll be given diet advice (mostly low carb, low sugars, basically you can eat lots protein and green leafy veg) and medication if you need it.
