Nub-less baby :-/ (Where's the frickin's nub?!)

Sorry, I understand that everyone must be SO bored of these nub theory posts but I've been watching them with great interest in anticipation of our 12 weeks scan and being able to gender guess for myself .... But I can't even find the s*dding nub!

Google couldn't help me, can you? Could someone please draw on this photo or summit to point it out? Or is it that baby's legs are in the way?

TIA xx

I am sure I can see a boy nub I'm not amazing at this but looking straight away I thought boy smile
Congrats by the way on your pregnancy I'm currently 15 weeks can you see my nub?

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 13:41:14

On second glance similar to mine and everyone has said girl with a girl shaped skull

We had a nub less scan too. And even if we wanted to find out the sex (had countless scans) we couldn't because legs have been firmly crossed and drawn up in every single scan.
Maybe you'll have a surprise like us grin.

Skull shape? Oooh, how so? I haven't heard about that one!

Do you know what you're having yet? (I guess not at 15 weeks?)

I can see lots of lines and little dashes and just getting very confused on which is the relevant one! blush

Off to watch more online how to guides and tuturorias! Lol!

Thanks for your input and thank you - congratulations on yours too x x

Hehe I've just heard about it google it apparently girls more round head and chin and nub horizontal to the spine ? Girls are longer and straight this is what I've heard xx

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 14:17:27

But I have no idea it's just what I've looked up on as I've obsessed haha can you see anything on mine ?

DesertSky Fri 24-Feb-17 14:41:34

I'd guess first scan pic is boy and second pic is girl. May be wrong but I've had two boys and a girl and going by what my scan pics looked like xx

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 18:55:35

Thanks desert everyone has said girl on mine I don't see a girl though haha

beautyandthebump Fri 24-Feb-17 19:30:42

Ok, so I have played around with the contrast of my scan pic and put some coloured lines! blush (Yes, I do realise how sad this but would really appreciate your feedback.)

Is the green arrow pointing to the nub? I.e. The brighter of the two white lines that kinda look like a tail between baby's legs?

Where is the end of the spine I'm trying to reference the angle against? Is it the part above the red line or the part above the orange line? Or neither?

Last of all.... Is it actually whether the end of the nub flicks up slightly? (As possible ours does??) Or the angle versus the spine??

Thanks! x

User6... - clearly as you can see, I'm pretty clueless on this front! But looking at yours, I don't see how it could be a boy (assuming I'm looking at the right part) so I'd have to go girl too!

Let us know when you actually find out!

Caken Fri 24-Feb-17 19:34:24

I would say the green line points to the nub, but the angle runs parallel with line of the spine (I think your red line marks the end of it) so I think girl... but I'm not a medical professional so this could all be bollocks grin. Either way, 50/50 chance, one of us here has it right! Congratulations and enjoy smile

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 19:40:39

I find out on the 3 April haha have you been looking up on them I'd be shocked if girl I'd like a girl really I'd have one of each but I don't feel like it is haha

TeethDrama Fri 24-Feb-17 19:45:57

1st pic looks more boy but not all the nub can be seen so it's only a slight lean to boy. 2nd pic looks girly.

TeethDrama Fri 24-Feb-17 19:49:54

The angle is best used when the full nub can be seen including the end. Stacked nubs (looks like a little line sitting on top if the long line) are generally boys and flat nubs forked at the end particularly if the fork is on the underside of the long line is says to be girls. But the end isn't seen here so it's inconclusive, although the distance between spins and line is quite high so that is more like a boy nub, but again, it's all theory and unless there's a really good clear shot of the entire nub it's too close to call.

TeethDrama Fri 24-Feb-17 19:54:30

Actually I've just had a closer look and that might be the end of the nub that can be seen - looks like two short lines. Now this can be hip bone or it could be nub. If nub then I revise my original opinion to 50:50 as short forked (double line) nubs can be girls. (They are early lady parts, in effect). What nobody can tell from this pic is if it's hip bone or nub we're seeing here so it really is completely open verdict 🙂

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 19:56:17

Thanks teeth.... can you see a full nub on the second photo ?
It's confusing really but exciting to guess smile

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 19:58:08

What do you think your having OP? Xx

leghoul Fri 24-Feb-17 20:00:09

Girl

TeethDrama Fri 24-Feb-17 20:04:59

Op - there's a line under the long line plus Its very flat and low to the spine, girls often have smaller bottoms and boys more rounded, possibly because the boy parts are sticking up and the girl parts don't stick up. Also pic 2 baby is lying flatter. But yours is inconclusive. As for the diagram you've drawn, on your pic baby's bottom end is pointed up which skews the theory. I'd say it really is 50:50 on that pic. Did you get any other pics?

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 20:07:33

Teeth I'm confused .... explain what you see on mine lol xxx

Rhayader Fri 24-Feb-17 20:09:31

Whats the gestation of your scan? Nub theory isn't meant to work when its really early - has to be over 12 weeks i think.

Rhayader Fri 24-Feb-17 20:09:45

12+0 i mean

user68753367 Fri 24-Feb-17 20:10:45

Mines 12+ 4
Sorry for geggin in on your post sad

beautyandthebump Fri 24-Feb-17 20:16:30

Thanks all. My scan photo in the original post is 13 weeks exactly. The little blighter was wriggling lots so I guess that explains a lot! Unfortunately, they only gave us one photo though.

It doesn't really matter, of course. I'm just nosey lol!

I'm being a bit norty too cause Hubby doesn't want to know at 20 weeks so we're not officially finding out. But I thought maybe I could guess and work it out for myself!

Thanks again to everyone for explaining to me. Makes a bit more sense as to why I couldn't fathom it if you say the nub is incomplete ... I had no idea if so!
