If you were overdue with #1...

Can you tell me some positive stories of being earlier with #2?

Currently 38+1 with DC2 after induced delivery of DC1 at 40+10 I'm trying to not get too miserable at the thought of another 3.5weeks of PGP... help!

41+3 with first, 40+2 with second. Good luck !!

user1485196412 · 24/02/2017 10:35

Also second labour and birth was much better in every way!

Caillou · 24/02/2017 10:38

40+6 with first dd and 39+3 with dd2 second labour was much easier and faster, hoping the same for dc3

ElspethFlashman · 24/02/2017 10:42

40+10 with the first, 40+5 with the second.

But with the second I just assumed I would go over and anything less than 10 days would be a win. That helped psychologically. I was really suffering in the second pregnancy too, couldn't walk etc and really needed it to be over from about the 8 month point so I can relate. But I KNEW I'd be overdue.

Turns out 5 days over isn't that bad in comparison to 10. It's when you go into the second week that you go crazy.

IMissGin · 24/02/2017 10:47

Thank you! These really help... I seem to have got it in my head that my body doesn't know how to spontaneously go into labour and I'm destined for another induction which is the last thing I want. Stuck on crutches too so can't even enjoy the couple of weeks peace now mat leave ha started

41+5with 1st 41+2 with second and shorter labour x

Laura05 · 24/02/2017 11:09

40+4 with DD and 40+2 with DS. First labour I was 7cm by the time I went in and she arrived not long after. Second labour my first twinge was at 2.20pm and he arrived at 4.23pm (just made it to hospital, 2 pushes and there he was!)

I'm currently 37+3 and hoping this little man will come early. I've had severe pelvic pain this time round and with running about after 2dc I'm beyond fed up! Midwife seems to think I'll go early but think she's just trying to make me feel better Hmm

chloechloe · 24/02/2017 11:12

There is hope gin!

I felt the same as you that my body didn't know what to do, as with DD1 I had to be induced at 40+5 and still didn't go into labour (ended in CS).

DD2 arrived 2 weeks early in 3.5 hours Grin which was a particular bonus as she was due at Christmas!

HelenaJustina · 24/02/2017 11:15

Mine went
40+12
40+6
40+6
40+10
There is hope, births 2,3 and 4 were all easier than the 1st. Think a combination of being less fearful/apprehensive and my body being better at it.
Good luck!

40+7 with dd1 and 40+3 with dd2 ... I'm 35 weeks now and hoping she will be on time or slightly early xd time will tell!

Brolis · 24/02/2017 21:39

DC 1 was born at 42 +1 after a three day induction and lots of interventions. DC2 came allmof his own accord at 41 weeks. My second birth was much easier and the midwife jut caught him.

Penguin13 · 24/02/2017 21:54

Ooh loving all the stories of easier 2nd/subsequent births. I was actually lucky with DD1 on the labour front although she did wait until the day before 42 weeks to make an appearance. Currently 36 weeks and am seriously ready for this baby to come out now! although simultaneously massively unprepared and haven't packed a bag yet

MissCalamity · 24/02/2017 22:10

40+6 with DC1
39+4 with DC2

DC2 was half as quick, but hurt more because of the quickness!
Good luck!

CastleFeck · 24/02/2017 22:13

41 dc1
40+5 dc2

AreWeThereYet000 · 24/02/2017 22:55

Dc 1 39+6 - 4 day labour
Dc 2 40+4 - however only had a 5 hour labour x

PleaseGetOffTheTableDarling · 24/02/2017 22:57

DC1 41+6, induction and horrible birth.
DC2 40+2, spontaneous labour, brilliant birth.

Good luck!

CazP2013 · 24/02/2017 23:00

Went 40 + 7 with DD, 36 hour labour, hellish...DS, 38+4, 90 minute labour, delivered at home by DH (accidentally), delightful.

Sometimespostingalwayslurking · 24/02/2017 23:01

DC1 41+3, i was seriously fed up of being pregnant. Birth was horrendous. Induction with pretty much every intervention under the sun bar a Caesarian.
DC2 born at 37+5. Totally unexpected and I was not prepared at all! Birth was very quick and easy, only 20 minutes of pain, the build up was totally manageable.
Think it's quite common that second births are easier but I am not sure if there is any trend with regards to timing. They come when they are ready!

hatters · 24/02/2017 23:02

40+5 induced, ending in emcs
38+5, spontaneous, twinge to birth in 4 hours.

Good luck!

Firefries · 24/02/2017 23:04

Yes my first was overdue by two weeks and induced (wasn't fun overall), the second came on time and was so easy and quick. By far my heaviest baby the second but also so much easier.

PacificDogwod · 24/02/2017 23:04

DS1 T+15
DS2 31+3 Shock

I seriously recommend the overdue scenario over the premature one... Wink. He's fine now, about to turn 13 and taller than his dad...

DS3 T+10
DS4 bang on due date

V best of luck Thanks

Monstamio · 25/02/2017 07:37

Ooh following with interest and also finding this encouraging. My first was induced at 40+14 ending in EMCS. Currently 39+5 with number two and hoping for a spontaneous natural labour this time. If not it'll be an ELCS at 40+12
