Is this normal?

39+4 with first baby. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow morning but wanted to post on here for advice/experiences etc. Sorry if it's TMI or sounds silly, just all new to me.

Basically, baby has been fairly active all day . Moving, squirming, wriggling, sticking limbs out. The skin on my bump is extremely sore and tender (I've had this a lot in recent weeks but tonight is the worst). Baby started to engage a few weeks ago, moved back up but has dropped very low over the last few days. What's new to me tonight is the pain in my fanjo. It's feels like a mixture of the baby trying to burrow it's way out, gouging me from the inside and being stabbed in the fanjo. It's causing me to jump and yelp, never experienced anything like it. My poor nether regions are getting bashed from the inside. It's incredibly unpleasant. My poor OH looks scared every time I cry out from the sharp shooting pains Grin it's been happening since late afternoon. Is it normal?

Yep, it's normal when you're heavily pregnant and baby is dropping down.

Good luck though, maybe the start of labour for you...

I believe they call it the 'fanny daggers' (which sounds like a name for a death metal band). For the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy with DD I would have sworn she was reaching into my fanjo and scratching me. I imagine it's just pressure on a specific nerve in your uterus/cervix travelling down you birth canal.

Fanny daggers...what an apt name Grin

Well they certainly don't mention this in the pregnancy books do they....

Peppatax, I hope so. Been uncomfortable and miserable for the last few weeks. So ready to be done with pregnancy and meet my baby :)
