Bloody show - how long to labour?

Had a sweep yesterday at 39 weeks. Think it's done something as I now have the 'show'.

Can I ask how long after having the show you started labour?

Lost mine on Monday at 39+3 and was excited for about 12 minutes, but nothing since, not a single twinge!

The internet seems to suggest most usually labour comes on 3-5 days afterwards but it can also be a few hours, or up to a couple of weeks. So- helpful!

Ummmm...

Show mid morning... waters went probably 15 hours later... labour really started about 15 hours after that... DS was born about 12 hours after that.

Make sure your bag's packed. Good luck.

45 mins later for me until the first contraction. DS was born exactly 24 hours after show Smile

Had a sweep on the Monday, started contracting (not painfully and irregularly) on Tuesday night, lost my show on Wednesday morning and baby born in the wee hours of Thursday morning!

About 3 hours for me, then DD born 4 hours later, all very quick!

It varied for me. Dc2 8 hours from show to baby despite trying to stop labour. Dc3 5 hours from show to baby. Dc4 9 days of show & constant contractions until baby.

Same sweep > show > contractions as LuckDragon for me, except DD held out (in) until Tuesday morning, little blighter...

Depends. I lost my mucus plug (all clear) over three days. I got contractions, two hours after they started I got a bloody show and four hours later I had a baby boy. If he hadn't got stuck he would have been out a lot sooner

I had the show when I had a sweep on the Wednesday, then on the Sunday noticed some every time I went to the toilet all that day, my DD arrived just after 7am on the Monday

Thanks for all the replies. It's so varied isn't it!

I'll just need to be patient and wait for the next stage to kick in. Eek!

I feel good that something is happening though as it kind of makes it all more real and I know realistically the end is in sight (if I don't go naturally I am booked to be induced on Monday).

I've been losing plug since last night but nothing yet. I'm 41+2 though. Booked in for induction Saturday but would rather if he came naturally!

I lost mine at 37+1 and baby arrived a week later! It can also grow back once you've lost it!

grumpelstiltskin good luck! My waters have just broken. Could still be a long process though. I'm convinced things are moving because of the sweep on Tuesday but who knows!
