Short video on the subject - seems to make sense.

Hatemylifenow Tue 14-Feb-17 16:14:07

Yeah ok op.

LikeTheShoes Tue 14-Feb-17 16:18:02

So being that guy has never had morning sickness. Good for him. I'm sure its because of his Veganism.

Mottlemoth Tue 14-Feb-17 16:18:43

What bollocks

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander Tue 14-Feb-17 16:19:14

I find condoms terribly good for this - is that what he's recommending?

StrawberryShortcake32 Tue 14-Feb-17 16:20:32

It's really interesting. Although my cravings were McDonald's hamburgers in pregnancy lol.My aversions were scented toiletries and my beloved yankee candle collection.
Maybe I'm just a weird mutant woman smile

raindripsonruses Tue 14-Feb-17 16:26:55

I couldn't keep down filtered water (having regularly thrown up tap water). Or anything else for that matter. For ages. Was hospitalised. Nice.

Hatemylifenow Tue 14-Feb-17 16:27:11

It's not remotely interesting, it's a boring mansplainer.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander Tue 14-Feb-17 16:28:34

He's also incredibly flaky about the distinction between HG and morning sickness.

Jaguarana Tue 14-Feb-17 16:28:34

I'm not going to take someone seriously who says that hyperemesis gravidarum is the technical term for pregnancy sickness. It's quite clear he hasn't a clue what he's talking about.

Jaguarana Tue 14-Feb-17 16:30:05

X-post with Actually at exactly the same time!

The OP is mansplaining as well, btw.

Rockandrollwithit Tue 14-Feb-17 17:11:09

LOL, I was a committed vegetarian before this pregnancy. Meat is now the only thing I can eat that doesn't make me sick.

twattymctwatterson Tue 14-Feb-17 17:29:06

As someone who suffered from terrible HG for 5 months I can honestly say this is utter bollocks. The guy doesn't even know the difference between HG and morning sickness.

FenellaMaxwellsPony Tue 14-Feb-17 18:18:58

Oh good. If only I had had a man to explain to me how my body works back in the first trimester.... hmm

NerrSnerr Tue 14-Feb-17 18:41:12

I'm a vegetarian. I am 31 weeks pregnant and have had HG for the past 22 weeks or so. He can fuck off. I may also be a bit grumpy

raviolidreaming Tue 14-Feb-17 18:55:32

What a load of self-important bollocks. I can't even bring myself to watch it all - he's just making me angry. I didn't have morning sickness and my biggest food aversion has been avocado.

raviolidreaming Tue 14-Feb-17 18:56:59

OP, what about this video seems to make sense?

strawberrypenguin Tue 14-Feb-17 18:59:48

Yeah of course. It's nothing at all to do with hormones and growing another person. How silly of us all!

thenewaveragebear1983 Tue 14-Feb-17 19:02:49

If I had to be vegetarian on pregnancy I would probably have starved to death- in my worst sickness days I couldn't even stand the smell of fresh veg in the fridge, and certainly couldn't have eaten it!

Catlady100 Tue 14-Feb-17 19:07:57

I'm vegan. Was still sick. Cat

PamBagnallsGotACollage Tue 14-Feb-17 19:08:25

Me too averagebear. The smell
Of cooking veg used to make me so sick.

This guy is a massive dick. Pretty sure it was the fact I was growing an actual human that made me want to vom.

RJnomore1 Tue 14-Feb-17 19:10:22

i thought this was going to be a joke thread that said if you don't get pregnant you can avoid morning sickness.

And if it's ok I will keep it that way in my head.

taytopotato Tue 14-Feb-17 19:10:40

My vegan friend had hyperemesis until 16 weeks.

raindripsonruses Tue 14-Feb-17 19:37:19

And this whole thing about animals not getting morning sickness ... cats are omniate carnivores- they should only eat meat. They don't get sick when pregnant because, dunno, some other reason unrelated to have meat in their diets.

OhtoblazeswithElvira Tue 14-Feb-17 19:43:56

Don't pandas look off colour and unwell when they are pregnant? Don't they only eat bamboo?

What a plonker. Wish he'd been around for my first pregnancy, I'd have made sure I vomited a bit of bile over him angry We live in times when any idiot can publish whatever rubbish goes through their minds <shakes head>

It has already been said upthread, the only thing that works is condoms grin
