Pregnancy

Wrong dates or miscarriage?

Hi everyone,

I really need some advice. This is my first pregnancy, I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant. This week I started to bleed (pink spotting). I called 111 and a Dr referred me to the early pregnancy unit. I had an internal scan and was told that the sac looks 5-6 weeks. She said either I have my dates wrong or I'll miscarry. I'm going back in 2 weeks to find out. I'm still bleeding (only when I wipe) it's either pink or red but no clots and no stomach pain.

Has anyone had anything similar?

X

I had some light bleeding early on, pink and some red it lasted about a day or 2 .. I went to epu and was told I was further gone than I thought .. when speaking to the midwifes they did say bleeding is common in early pregnancy and aslong as it's not accompanied by pain etc then it's probably ok. Mine was also only when I wiped and I'm now 16 weeks gone and all seems well. Try not to worry too much it's possible your dates were slightly wrong.. I would say if the bleeding continues or you start feeling pain go back to the epu x

It's an awful limbo situation not knowing either way.
It's a waiting game now, keep well, eat, drink and just carry on because absolutely nothing you do will make any difference to this.
It will be what it is meant to be, not comforting words I know, but truthful.
Good luck x

I'm in the same situation twinkle, no bleeding but on a private scan I measured 5 weeks instead of 7. I am waiting for another scan. All my reading (and I have done a lot) suggests it could go either way. So fingers crossed for you.

In my case the sack was completely empty (not even a yolk scan) so I'm expecting to find out it's an anembrionic pregnancy. I has a mmc in October so I'm gutted but there is still a chance it will be OK.

It's the two week wait no-one talks about.

Thank you all for your messages. Nimisha, I didn't have a yolk either. I'm trying so hard to stay positive but it's really hard. :-(

I'm preparing myself by deciding what to do if its bad news. I don't want surgical management again, my last erpc was on Halloween and I'd rather not have two surgeries so close together., either going to go for the medical option or MVA if they offer me that.

There is still the rare chance it could be ok but its not looking hopeful. Hope for the best but plan for the worst is my way of managing this time.Four days until my scan. It seems like a lifetime.

How are you holding up Twinkle?

Hi Nimisha,
Unfortunately I am going through a m/c today. I am devastated. My husband called the EPU as my scan wasn't for another 2 weeks, they've asked me to come in this Thursday to check everything... I hope everything works out for you. X

Sorry OP x. I've had two losses, one like yours whereby I went for a scan at 8 weeks but the sac was empty and measured 6. I miscarried a week later. Those babies are genetically wrong, just not meant to be. All the best for your next pregnancy xxx

My outcome was the same. I opted to have medical management. How are you recovering?

This is my second miscarriage in 4 months. I think I just want to be able to get on with things but I'm worried it will happen again. I'm a bit teary but physically not too bad, better than last time pain wise but I am expecting a bit of a hormone crash soon.

I'm trying to look after myself at the moment. Its funny though, it seems that most of the people I tell have either had a miscarriage themselves or know someone who has.I don't think I realized how common it was.

Ladies, I just wanted to tell you that I had two miscarriages back-to-back in 2013. It was awful and I still feel a bit sad about the first one in particular. However, it means nothing for your future fertility. Chances are that like me, you will go on to have successful pregnancies. I now have two kids, the first of whom was conceived just a month after my last miscarriage.

Yes I can second that: I had one child in July 2013, first pregnancy, no problems. Then in 2014 I lost two pregnancies at 9 & 10 weeks (one was a mmc April and the other a SCH in July ) then got pregnant again and had my second in July (2015). Now on my 5th pregnancy and hopefully 3rd baby. It hurts so much, and tbh I didn't properly move on from the losses until the due dates had both passed. It was v annoying too because a friend of mine was the same dates as my second loss and so I was constantly reminded of what stage I should have been at. Anyho, it gets better, time heals all xxx

Thank you Cali mommy. Can I ask, when you did get pregnant again did you keep it a secret? I think I'm so worried something will happen again when I do fall pregnant. Xx

You know what, I was much more casual about keeping it a secret after the losses, because one thing that upset me when I lost the pregnancies was that no one had known about them so when they were gone it was like they didn't matter. But 9 weeks and 10 weeks was a long time for me and I felt like they mattered very much. So if I went out for dinner and someone smirked and asked me why I wasn't drinking I just quietly said, because I'm pregnant. And by and large people understand that it's an early time. If you really want to shut them up you could add, I've had miscarriages so it's a sensitive time. That really quiets their curiosity! But I feel better with a few people knowing because tbh I ended up telling people I had lost the babies anyways because I needed to talk about it and I was upset for a long time.
