So I got my BFP a couple of days ago and after speaking to my GP surgery, have sent off a booking form to the Antenatal Team. How long did you guys have to wait to hear back from them? I'm getting that the general gist is a booking appointment at 8 weeks and then of course, the scan at 12 weeks but how long until you heard back initially?

Also, I'm feeling a bit anxious and all over the shop because I have no idea how pregnant I am. I last had a period in November but had 3 BFN's up until my BFP's a couple of days ago. So I don't know when 8 weeks will be. And I don't know at what point I am now - I'm a bit of a control freak and it's bugging me that I could be very pregnant or barely pregnant. I guess I just need some advice and reassurance from people that have been through this before! Thanks guys HaloBlushGrin

Firstly congratulations! Exciting times ahead Smile
It took a couple of weeks for me to get a booking in appointment. I was 9 weeks when I had my booking in appointment and had a very short dating scan at this appointment. In Ireland I think they aim to have this appointment at 10 weeks, I wasn't sure of my dates so this scan confirmed 9 weeks and then they brought me back at 12 weeks for another scan.
Until you have some kind of scan they generally go by when you said your last period was.

Clearblue does the test which tells you how many weeks (but you need to add on two weeks) - worth a try? Congratulations Smile

Doesn't the clear blue only go up to 3+ weeks?

I assume they're using the date of your last period the determine your gestation at this point, so I'd expect you to hear from them fairly soon :)

Thanks everyone. Hopefully they'll get me in asap then! I did try to explain the complicated goings-on on my booking form so hopefully they'll get me in pretty soon if they're going on my last period! Grin fingers crossed anyway, can't take this not knowing! I highly doubt I've been pregnant since November - I'm sort of going on my last negative which was 4 weeks ago... what do you guys reckon??

Hard to know - you could aways pay for an early scan to see whats in there?

Yep, clearblue only goes up to 3+ (which makes you 5+ by midwife count), but might help. (or you might waste about £10 ;) )

Were your periods fairly regular before November? Gosh, it's so hard to know... my mum had negative pregnancy tests for months with my brother but KNEW she was pregnant. Eventually it was beyond denying!

Hopefully they'll get in touch ASAP. If it wasn't for the negative pregnancy tests they'd be booking your 12 weeks scan pretty sharpish around now I think, but either way I think they'll want to scan!

You do hear about some people who get negatives for weeks before getting a positive even when they are pregnant but I do think this is rare. Where you tracking your ovulation?
I would just wait and see when you hear from them, an early dating scan would potentially have to be an internal scan if you were still very early on, but you could pay for one if you hadn't heard from them within a two weeks and were worried you were further on.

Thanks for all your comments. Even though I sort of knew that I would need a scan to work it out, with it all being so new and my first pregnancy, I just needed some reassurance really so thank you.

I wasn't tracking ovulation because we actually only decided to start ttc in december, as my next AF was due, and I planned to start tracking it then. However, I never got another cycle to track! And as adviced by the GP, just dtd regularly and began testing for pregnancy once a month. Before that, my periods weren't exactly clockwork but there was at least one every 35 days, I don't think my cycle had regulated properly after coming off contraception.

I don't think I'll pay for an early scan but might get the Clear Blue test to see what that says. Hopefully they'll see my messy dates and get me booked for an initial scan asap. Thanks everyone you're all so lovely Smile

P.s. Sorry not sure how to link previous commenters in as tags l!

I think if you had a negative test last month I would go by that.
Just relax and discuss it all with your midwife at your 8 week appointment, even if you are a few weeks ahead it won't really make any difference, lots of people don;t know exactly how far along they are until they go in for the 12 week scan.
ps: make sure you start taking folic acid straight away. Pregnacare is a good combined tablet for giving your baby everything it needs, folic acid, vitamin D etc.

Thanks MinnieNoush - very sound advice to relax. I will certainly try and do that. Already taking Folic Acid and a Vitamin D and Calcium combined vitamin so will start on the pregnancy combined vitamins when those are done Smile
