So i'm having a moan about the usual first trimester misery. This is baby no.1 and dont get me wrong i am so excited i could burst but i am also tired 90% of the time, nauseas and so have lost drive at work. I know everyone gets like this i am just curious WHEN WILL I FEEL HUMAN? Confused my app says at 7 + 4 the placenta is gearing up so i should feel less hormonal. Does this mean i will start to feel better? Sorry for ranting

Hey there don't apologise for ranting!

All the mums in my life told me that by 2nd trimester I'd feel better. I don't. True I feel less sick and less tired but I'm now an emotional wreck. I still have really rough days with morning sickness and I am having to ensure I get as much sleep as possible.

It's best to remember every pregnancy is different and every woman's experience of being pregnant is different. Hopefully you'll be fine once you hit the 2nd trimester (or sooner!!) but just prepared incase you don't.

There is no answer for your question, as the poster above says, every pregnancy is different. I was waiting to feel immediately better at 12 weeks....I was still throwing up at 23 weeks. I'm 31 weeks now, no sickness but the exhaustion has never gone away and I'm now uncomfortable. However I'm nearing the end ( & meeting my baby girl!) so feel better just for that thought!

With the nausea just never go hungry, never! It's makes it so much worse. Snack snack snack (don't go crazy though obviously!).

Ah ok. I am snacking but its getting tedious!! Its hard when at work - much easier to bare when comfy at the weekend

I agree! I have a job where I travel to different meetings a few days a week and then work from home on the others so while the travel days were soooo hard, I could just wear joggers and comfortably throw up at home on the other days!

It will get better but they may not be soon, keep up your water and only eat what you can bear. I was worried I was eating badly but my midwife reassured me (now take extra vitamins!).

Talk with your friends and partner about how crap you feel, I'm pretty sure my husband got fed up listening to me but he did listen.

17 weeks here and still feel like shit, sorry! But I am having glimpses of normality. A few hours here and there where I don't feel sick. I was even quite chirpy yesterday. It didn't last...

Doom and gloom from me I'm afraid. 17 weeks today and still feel like utter shit. I have been signed off work since December as suffering from hyperemesis. I thought 16 weeks would be better for me, but no. I cant remember a time I didnt feel ill. Hope yours eases soon.

13 weeks for me. I read on here somewhere "3 months dreary, 3 months cheery, 3 months weary".

Pretty true so far! (6 months in now!).

I feel your pain. First trimester sucks. For me with both pregnancys the yucky feeling started to list at 12 weeks, and was gone by 16. I think that this is the time the placenta takes over the job of providing nutrients, if I remember rightly, so that might be why.

Ooo i like that rhyme (minus the dreary)

I was signed off 4-10 weeks and started to not be sick all day everyday at about 13 weeks. See the doctor for medication if you haven't already, it made mine more manageable.

Every pregnancy is different. Some people sail through some people are miserable the whole time.

Not everyone "glows" but traditionally the second trimester is meant to be your best time.

18w.

Man I felt shite before that. Then "poof": it was all gone.

I never glowed though. More "shone like a freshly grilled sausage".

Oh geez there are alot of people beyond first trimester.....how do you go to work? Makes me angry sat there when i want to curl up in a ball. People ask me work questions like 'hows the report going?' And i feel like growling like a rabid dog in response. I guess i should brace myself to be half way through the hell. Hilarious when i have only known (and so suffered the symptoms) for 3 weeks....so all in all 2-3 x more to go. Sigh.

My mum having 4 kids is now my hero! I will keep telling myself to suck it up

DD1 - 13 weeks
DD2 - birth

Sorry. I hope you're one of the lucky ones and feel better soon!

It started easing off very gradually around week 12 and was almost completely back to normal (in terms of nausea and tiredness) at about 16 weeks. Although then I started retching when triggered by random smells and thoughts even though I didn't feel nauseous! Now at 23 weeks I am fine apart from on long car journeys.

Second pregnancy though - the first time round I think it went away sooner.

By the way you can go and ask your doctor for anti sickness pills which are perfectly safe!

Around twelve weeks. Placenta kicks in, you stop being sick and feeling shit.

Congratulations btw xx

The simple answer is I haven't been to work. Will probably head back next month, but will have had 3 months off by then. It is pretty soul destroying as I rarely leave the house/spend most days on my own. I wish it was just normal MS. I'm sure I would be back to normal by now!

Oh jelly I know how you feel it's awful isn't it. I'm coming up for 10 weeks and it's like eveeeery daaaay lasts a week. All I do is whinge whinge whinge.

With my DD it eased about 11.5 and was gone by 13 - praying the same (or better) happens this time.

Ultimately though it's impossible to predict Sad
