Hi, I'm new to all this but at my wits end. Im 19wks currently and have been suffering since maybe 4 wks in. Ive now been off work since end of November and no signs of being able to get back in at the minute. Ive been in and out of the hospital, tried a variety of drugs to help with the sickness and nausea but nothing is helping so Ive given up on that, no point taking them if they're not doing anything! I just feel completely exhausted and worn out. I find it hard to eat or drink and when I do more often than not it wont stay down. When it does stay down I am so badly constipated Im bleeding (TMI I know). Im awake half the night heaving and so end up sleepy and light headed/dizzy through the day. I feel like a liability getting in the car as I am so Im pretty much housebound until I feel better.... on top of that there's the huge guilt of feeling like baby isnt getting adequate sustenance as I am so out of it......... Can someone just give me some positives to cling onto please...... TIA

So sorry to hear this... You're not alone... Come and join in with your fellow sufferers on the hyperemesis support thread Smile we can handhold, offer emotional support and we trade tips. I would strongly, strongly advise you to keep taking the drugs even if you don't feel like they're helping. It can take a long time to get the 'mix' right but they often need a little while on your system before they work. And you can take multiple different types at the same time so there's a lot of different combinations to work through...

PS I know it seems impossible to believe but in all likelihood baby is absolutely fine. I just could not believe that, but every time I was in hospital they told me the baby is effectively a parasite and WILL get what they need from your 'stores'. So you suffer, but baby doesn't!

Thank you for your reply, I will get on the support group. Yeah I've been on a few combinations but even the dr agreed that there is not much point continuing on them. Well scan tomorrow so just crossing my fingers all is well! :-)

Ugh. I hope you've got a good doctor who's not giving up too quickly!! At the start of the HS thread there's a link to an organisation you can call who can also give really good advice about meds. Might be worth having a chat with them? FX for your scan tomorrow!! I've just had my 36 week scan and I thought the day would never come. You'll get there Smile
