Unexpected Positive

Hi,

I'm a bit of a lurker in these forums, so I hope it's okay to ask for some advice. AF is now 10 days late (she is usually irregular), but I have been feeling extremely tired, hungry and really sore in the chest for the past fortnight and put this down to PMS. Something felt different though, so this morning I did a Sainsbury's own test, and it came up with a BFP almost instantly (picture taken 2 mins after).

How likely is it that it's a genuine positive? And if so, what happens now? Do I do another test to make sure, or book an antenatal appointment? DP and I weren't especially TTC, so I'm not sure if I should wait to tell him. My head is all over the place, so any advice on the next steps would be welcomed.

Congratulations!

False positives are very rare.

I suggest you ring your GP surgery and ask the receptionist what you need to do (procedures can vary)

And join the chat thread for your due date - probably this one - if you think it would help to natter.

Congratulations. I agree with AuntieStella that false positive are very rare (plus you've had some of the classic symptoms of pregnancy!).

Do another test to put your mind at ease and make a GP appointment asap. Your GP will explain the next steps and are usually very good and pointing you in the right directions.

Good luck x

Congratulations Flowers
With each of my pregnancies once confirmed by home kit I've made an appointment at gp, who then ask for a water sample and they either dip stick it there and then or send it off. The Gp then puts in a referral to the community midwife who will then contact you to make arrangements for your booking in appointment. Not sure if it's the same practice at each doctors though.

Thank you for the replies, I did another test during lunch, BFP again. It's sinking in and I'm feeling slightly calmer. Have made an appointment with the GP for next Monday and will take it from there :)
