In need of success stories if you lovely ladies have any please? I'm 23+4 and have been admitted this afternoon after starting to have regular contractions from lunchtime. I've had the first of two steroid injections for my tiny ones lungs and am now waiting to see if I progress or stop...... thanks

Yes, twice. Once at 28 weeks and again at 30. Pesky little bairn went overdue to nearly 43 weeks.

Hang in there. They keep me in for a few days each time and were fab.

I had periods of regular contractions with dd1 and dd2. With dd1 they started at 26 weeks and were 10 minutes apart for 36 hours, they gave me steroids for the lungs but the eventually stopped. This groped every few weeks till she was born at 41 weeks.

I was diagnosed with an irritable uterus at some point.

Oh bless you, I can imagine how worried you are. I'm afraid I have no wise words but I remember chatting with you on another thread and wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you. Sending all the luck in the world for the contractions to slow down and stop xx

Thank you for the replies, it's comforting to know others have gotten past this successfully! And JOMH1982 thank you for the lovely message.
We're hanging on so far, have been contracting all night ranging from every 5mins to every 40mins and then back again. Am trying to keep calm and have faith. If they manage to stop it, bloody brilliant. If they don't, baby has been measuring a week or so larger than age on his scans and has at least had some steroids to help him out so there's still a chance. A scary chance, but a chance x

With DD2 I was admitted at 29 weeks after having food poisoning which triggered contractions. Had a night of pretty regular ones, which then stopped and she ended up being born on her due date! Was scary but you are in the best place for now.

You are sounding remarkably calm, full credit to you. I agree with the others that you are in the best place and I'm so glad to hear they've given you steroid injections to help little one's lungs. There is always a good chance, I am sending happy thoughts and prayers your way xx

I'm afraid that they couldn't stop mine (went into labour at 23+4) but one of my babies (twins) survived being born so early. She is eight now so even very tiny and early babies can make it.
Really hope your little one stays put for as long as possible though. Thinking of you and sending all positive, labour stopping thoughts to you Flowers

I went to labour ward with regular contractions and loss of mucus plug at 23+3 they wouldn't do anything for me as my trust doesn't do anything under 24 weeks but transfer to a different hospital, they did carry on but would stop for a few days and then restart again. Eventually I was admitted at 30+4 where I asked them to properly check my cervix and they discovered I was dilating internally and externally and babies head and membranes very prominent at the external OS. They put me on a drip for 18 hours that had something in it to stop the uterus contracting and then kept me in. I gave birth a few days later at 31weeks.

Not bad though to say I'd been contracting almost 8 weeks at that point. Same happened in my previous pregnancies too they said I had an irritable uterus. I have 5 children (only the last 2 were preterm at 34 and 31 weeks)

Hope it settles soon 🍀
