Suspense is making me ill.

Hi, I've had multiple symptoms including, tender breasts, heart burn, nausea and fatigue also missed my period by at least 5 days (maybe slightly less or more because I'm not always bang on a date) I've had a positive pregnancy test, with two negatives along with that. I've got an appointment booked with the docs for Monday morning but although it sounds pathetic I'm so anxious and so caught up on wanting this baby to be there that I'm actually driving myself crazy. I've got no appetite I'm actually forcing food down my throat in the mornings, my partner is trying to be supportive but because he works long shifts it's awfully hard for him to be there when I need it. I know I must sound whacko but is there any advice anybody could offer me?Sad

Just to add- I think my worst habit is actually not getting off the net looking for answers!!! So much talk about chemical pregnancies but I haven't bled since the test I did. Also around the time my period was supposed to come I had light spotting which thinking back I wonder if it could be implantation bleeding. I'm so confused it's stressed me out to the point I think I'm just imagining everything and think it's not real!

You need to calm down. What will be will be and there is nothing you can do to control it. If you are, pregnancy is long so being like this now will not help you at all. Good luck Flowers

Yeah, that's the advice my partner has continued to give me. I've been waiting for so long for this moment it's actually turned into a bad thing rather than the amazing thing I've waited for my whole life. Thanks for your wordsFlowers

I am 9 weeks. Had a scan at 7 and a half. The sheer certainty that something will imminently go wrong is JUST starting to subside ( though still concerned about 12 week scan) I can't tell you it will all Def be fine but I can tell you you are not alone

Wow, I wish you all the best! Thank you very much, I suppose I'm looking for some reassurance from people like yourself. Flowers

I got a midwife appointment very quickly (7 weeks) and they were amazing!

If you have had a positive result I would think that would mean you are! I have not heard of someone testing positive and then not being. Negative tests could just be about times of the day. Seeing as you have your appointment tomorrow I would just try to wait it out. If you are going mad, could try testing first wee of the day today (if you haven't been already this morning). If you don't have a test, collect in a pot until you get one! I agree about just relaxing but also know from experience when you are caught up like this you can't think of anything else!!

I've been there and it was very hard. I wasnt pregnant in the end up, im not sure if it was a chemical or false positive or what happened. My period came at the expected time the next month. It was one of the most difficult times i've had. Just do what you need to do to keep sane for the next few days. Fx you are pregnant Flowers

I took this one this morning, am I looking too hard or is there a line there? I also edited the contrast on it to see if it'd pick up more. Opinions?

I really hope you get the news you want OP Flowers

Also, I don't want to get your hopes up, but when you increased the contrast, there definitely is another line!Smile

I'm hoping I'm just one of those women who have a low concentrate and takes a few weeks longer to get a positive (trying to stay as positive as I can so I don't go insane) but thank you, this is going to mean the world to both me and my partner if it's the results we're hoping for. Flowers

There's definitely a line there. Please try to relax. You really don't need a doctor's appointment tomorrow. The tests gps use are just like the ones you can buy and you have had a positive result today. At most surgeries now you book in straight with a midwife but check with the receptionist what happens in your area.

Wouldn't they need to do a blood test to be sure? I'm still not sure if I am even after today- I'm a bit more relaxed than I was yesterday I just seem to have spells of complete worry and crying then the next hour or so I don't feel so bad. I don't know if I could book in with a midwife because I'm not certain I'm pregnant Sad

There is a line there on those pictures, please try to stop worrying. You may have got negatives on others if they were different sensitivities. I agree, a doctors appointment is a wasted appointment. I REALLY understand that it's difficult to not stress about this but you can't change what will happen here. The tests that the NHS use are even less sensitive than what you have there (that looks to me like the ones you get from Wilkinson which are about 25 miu?) the doctors ones are 100 so may show negative which will worry you more.

I have had chemical pregnancies, in those cases the lines didn't get darker and nothing you or any doctor can do can change that and here is no treatment for it than other to wait it out. Don't test for a few days and see what happens. If it is positive, accept you are pregnant and be happy.

To make a point about GPs and early pregnancy..... whilst it is your whole world to them it is not really of much interest at such an early stage because so much can happen. The rise is ultra sensitive home tests is to blame for this and I don't think they are particularly a good thing. They have certainly caused me much heartache (in some cases had I not tested and got a positive I wouldn't have known it was chemical and just presumed I had a late period). I am pregnant now (20 weeks) but I recently had a missed miscarriage. I got faint positives from 10 dpi and knew straight away (because of my history) that it wouldn't stick. I had to fight to get blood tests when I should have been about 6 weeks (still showing faint positives) and even when my levels came back as "pregnant" and not within the normal range the GP said I was pregnant and should just wait and see what happened.

Your lines do look normal for this stage. Please try to stop worrying. Again, I do appreciate it is difficult.

I'm going to take your advice and wait longer for the doctors appointment. I'll cancel it tomorrow morning, I think I do feel a little bit better about it now although I'm sure in a few hours I'll be up in the air again. Thank you all for your responses and for being so kind while I'm so frantic. I've had one test that had a clear positive on it which is quite strange considering I've had 2 negatives and the one you've seen above.

When are you doing the tests? First wee of the morning or afterwards? That can affect the result.

LeSquigh · 29/01/2017 13:28

If you can hold out, wait a week (or at least 4-5 days) and do a less sensitive test.

I feel for you, I do. With my first pregnancy I did over 50 tests (which cost a fortune) repeatedly checking that I was still pregnant. It can drive you crazy. I've had a lot of pregnancies in between (with various outcomes) and with this one I've done one test and I'm like "yeah, pregnant, wait a few weeks, book in, etc" and not stressed about it at all. It gets easier! Flowers

I've done them at various times, the one that came out strongest was done in the afternoon (weirdly enough) one negative I did at night, one negative I did in the morning but had drunk lots so maybe that diluted it? I did this one first thing in the morning though and got that faint line. Thanks for the advice, it's really helping me to be able to talk to other women about it- I do feel a bit better!

Yes the hormone does get diluted. Your urine that's accumulated overnight will have the highest concentration of the hormone. Keep your first wee in a pot if you want to test later.
Why not give it a rest for a few days? False positives are rare. False negatives are much more common. So let yourself be pregnant, today, tomorrow, maybe til Friday? Then if nothing's gone wrong see how you feel about booking a midwife appointment. It's quite common to be in a state of disbelief about it all!

Thank you, that message was actually really nice...especially the "letting myself be pregnant" -actually brought tears to my eyes! I'm gonna take all of your advice and just let be for the time being and test on Friday -which is going to be my birthday - (fingers crossed for the best present ever) yeah, I think I am wanting this to be real so much I'm passing off any sign that points to it being so to avoid the heartbreak. I feel a lot better though, I truly am thankful to how supportive this forum is. It's heartwarming Flowers

Glad to help. I remember grilling my midwife at my first appointment as to other common causes of positive tests and no periods Blush She was a bit Hmm at me!

What CD is today? And when was AF due?

Honestly, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and I have absolutely no symptoms. The mind is a very powerful thing. But getting yourself so stressed and upset and anxious could affect your pregnancy at this stage. So please, try to relax, enjoy, be excited and let the good hormones flood your body. Help baby get comfy and remain a sticky one. And for the love of chocolate, stop bloody searching on google!!!!

GPs don't do blood tests to confirm pregnancies. Or test your urine- they have access to sticks with same sensitivity as you can buy in shops now

Ring reception and ask what procedure is for midwives in your area. I was just given number and told to book myself in. Did that (and booked flu jab) and was seen INCREDIBLY quickly to book in. Which did make the wait to the scan even longer.

I did book a GP appt, to discuss which medications I could/ should still take given I was pregnant

Because I have a history of seizures and I also have PCOD do you think I'd be looked at more closely? Or does that make you think I should actually see my GP? I do feel stress free at the moment thanks to all your help- my partner will have all of you to thank that my hair hasn't fallen out by the time he's getting home GrinFlowers
