Two weird symptoms in late pregnancy

Currently 36 weeks and in the last few days baby seems to have moved and their position is causing pain high up on the right hand side of my bump.

Today I have noticed I have purple bruising around this area.

Seeing midwife tomorrow so can mention then but wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if it was normal?

My other question relates to a strange smell...apologies if TMI. In the last week or so I have noticed that my wee has a much stronger and very unpleasant odour. It's a bit like nail polish remover. I've been going to the bathroom a lot more frequently anyway and put it down to just normal pregnancy symptom but could this smell mean a UTI?

Again seeing midwife tomorrow but would rather have others experiences before I go so I am a little prepared !

Many thanks

The funny smelling wee could be gestational diabetes .

thanks, I was tested for this in December but it was clear. I wonder if it can develop later in pregnancy.

Does it hurt when you go for a wee, along with the smell? This can be a sign of a uti, but your midwife should be able to talk you through it xx

It doesn't hurt as such but I could go a number of times in an hour. It feels desperately urgent and uncomfortable but not sore when actually peeing. Then 10 minutes later I could be back again. I think I've only ever had one UTI years ago but from what I remember it was a bit like that having to go constantly (but I did think it going a lot was just a normal pregnancy thing to add to the list of ailments ;-)

It's the fact that your wee smells like nail varnish remover that made
Me think diabetes .

Happy to say that all was fine yesterday at the midwife. Urine was tested and there are no problems.
Bizarrely the smell seems to have gone now too.
Thanks for the replies ladies x
