Hi all,
Just at work and thought I'd ask abit of advice before the calling the midwife/if i need to even.

I've been having the headaches for a while now which I've seemed to calm down by drinking a lot more water.

Yesterday a horrendous headache came on, it possibly could have been due to me not drinking enough water the past few days but it literally knocked me for six I ended up dozzing on the sofa for Half an hour at 8pm went to bed at half 9 fell asleep by ten and slept until my alarm at 7am. My appetite decreased and I've had very slight feelings of sickness/nausea and mild dizziness and today I've noticed dots in my eyes occassionally but I do work in front of a computer screen so that could be causing that problem. Also I have very mild little cramps/twinges in my lower tummy but not the tummy, furthur down, maybe the pubic area? Not sure what it's classed as. It I think that's probably normal due to getting bigger.

Sorry to go on but i just wonder if this is all pretty normal or if I should be concerned? Thanks in advance 😘😘

Ok so the headaches could be considered normal, I've suffered terribly in this pregnancy with hormone headaches right at the front of my head almost over my eyes. Obviously dizziness, feeling light headed, loss of appetite and nausea can all be related. It's not uncommon to feel like that any time during your pregnancy.

The spots in front of your eyes might be a dip in your blood pressure, probably down to not eating.

Cramps/twinges could just be stretching.

But you wouldn't be here asking if you weren't a bit worried, so give your midwife a call and explain your symptoms and tell her you're worried. She will likely see you to do all your observations and rule anything out.

It could be some sort of migraine brought on by hormones? I've not had them myself by I know someone who had them during pregnancy.
I agree with the previous poster, contact your midwife. It will put your mind at rest at least. Hope you feel better soon!

You need to have your blood pressure checked by your gp or midwife now. Headaches and visual disturbances shouldn't be ignored. In my first pregnancy my bp started to become an issue at 21 weeks. It was missed by the midwife and I ended up with pre-eclampsia. Phone your midwife.

Everything you mention could be a sign of ore eclampsia, or could just be normal.

Get your Bp and urine checked, and possibly blood tests to be sure. I've had high bp for a couple if weeks and have to have twice weekly monitoring, I am asked every time re headache, nausea, and visual disturbances.

Hi all thanks so much for your replies, I called the midwife and she said to take paracetamol next time a really bad headache comes on, I know I can take this but choose not to, I'd rather sleep it off. She said get plenty of rest and keep hydrated. I have been full on with work and family life for a while now and it could be that that is taking its toll now. It's like you all day all signs could be nothing but at the same time could be something.

She said to see how I get on and if not improving see my gp. I think I'm going to call them after work and see if I can get an appointment booked just to put my mind at rest, don't want this pre eclampsia and if it is a possibility I'd rather keep it under control as soon as possible! Xxxx

Agree on the Hydration. I used to wake up in second trimester feeling like my head was in a vice, real bad crushing pains... to the point it really hurt to open / move my eyes. I take a 700ml bottle of water to bed and drink that through the night and am much, much better. Also used to get the little nips and cramps you mention. I'm nearly 33 weeks now. All fine. You're right to be cautious, but try not to worry too much xx

I had headaches a lot at 18 - 20 weeks, midwife came out to see me and everything was fine and normal, but I think it was stress of work. My job is really full on. After CHristmas, and a complete relax, I don't get them.
I'm 28 weeks now and keep hydrated and am going on maternity in 8 weeks, so job stress is less (I think I've switched off now!)

Don't worry, I too had horrendous headaches from about week 16-21
I never had this with my two previous pregnancies but it turns out it's very common.

I'm now 31 weeks and haven't had any for a good while thankfully!!

Headaches are now replaced with constipation and sore legs!!

Hi. I'm 18 weeks too and also been getting headaches for a week. But not terrible headaches, and I hadn't been taking paracetamol.
I did go and see midwife as I was worried about BP and felt much more reassured when that was checked. My headaches went soon after - i think drinking huge amount of water has made big difference. And also think stress may have been some of it so being checked has helped.that.. It's a relief to read others have had similar symptoms! Hope you feel better soon.

Aw so glad it's not just me! The are awful arent they, I literally get knocked out by them but I think it could be my bodies way of telling me to stop and slow down. I'm still going at 100mph with work and family life maybe this is its way of saying stop! I think people are right with stress being a factor, I try not to stress but with work and hectic lives and family dramas it's not always easy to switch off.
I have to say just by upping my water intake today has made me feel better I've checked my bp twice tonight and it was 121/62 then 117/66 from what I can see online that seems to be normal. I really appreciate all these messages makes me feel better being able to share the worry and just check in with you all 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙂🙂

All the nausea and dizziness may be because of the headache. Ive had raging headaches since i got pregnant, they arent technically migraines but they make me feel like i wanna chop my head off it hurts so much. Sometimes i get dizzy with the headaches, especially if ive got up of the sofa to quick or turned around to fast. The pains could be round ligament pain and normal cramps, im not 100% sure but when i was 18 weeks im sure i had cramps and panicked so much i booked a private scan. Im 24 weeks now and everythings fine, but i remember worrying because most people said they got stretching later than 18 weeks so i didnt put it down to ligament pain. As long as you dont have bleeding i wouldnt worry, but i know thats easier said than done so maybe phone your midwife? I THINK its too early to worry about headaches and dizziness being pre eclampsia or anything, but maybe worth telling your midwife so she can put your mind at rest xx

A little blood pressure home monitor might come in handy but I think your symptoms are quite normal.

Apologies for my previous panicked thread! 🙈 Totally panicked and freaked out there. I just spoke to a midwife who wasn't overly helpful to be honest! Just said we'll your not symptomatic so I don't know if you have it or not, yep helpful.
Anyway I don't have symptoms and I think it's fine as I can't see that it's contagious so I'm sure all isnok but I may see if I can get a urine sample sent to the lab by my gps next week just to double check.
I don't know if it's me and I know midwives/healthcare are massively under pressure but the 'advice' I just got was look online. Well what's the point in calling when your freaking out like crazy and need reassurance?
Xxxx
