Is orange juice bad

Im literally only doing this because my nan thinks she knows everything about being pregnant and she has been on about me "drinking too much orange juice" for the majority of my pregnancy.

Ive always loved orange juice and ever since falling pregnant 6 months ago, ive been loving it even more. In all fairness i do drink a lot more than normal people would but thats because its the only drink i can have and not want to throw it back up, other than water. Its nothing unusual, ive always only liked orange and no other drink and i only like bottle water not tap water, and its hard to pop out to the shop every two seconds to get bottle water haha. I go through probably a carton a day, but ive been told its not unhealthy and its one of the the best things to drink. It also makes the baby kicks loads as well haha. My nan is constantly trying to make me water it down which i think is horrible or is always having a row because its bad, i live with my dad and dont have contact with my mam so because my dad doesnt know much about pregnancy, nan is always putting her beak in. She does it with everything, even disagrees with the midwife half the time. Is my nan actually right or am i okay to keep drinking orange juice all the time? I just wanna shut her nagging up haha

I was told to drink more orange juice in pregnancy! I think as long as you're brushing your teeth well (as it's sugary and you're more likely to lose teeth in pregnancy) you'll be grand. Ignore people who try to give you "advice".

That's ridiculous. It's fine. A quick google will tell you that.

I drank gallons of orange juice during pregnancy. Baby is healthy as a trout.

I know someone who suffered with sickness the whole of her pregnancy. Strangely orange juice was all she could keep down and drank loads. I like it now but couldn't stomach it when being sick.

I had really bad orange juice cravings in my last pregnancy. I started by buying never from concentrate and watering it down. I started uping the ammount of water gradually over time so I didn't notice the effect on the taste.

I still got my yummy orange juice fix but with less sugar because of the dilution.

Not good for your teeth, but I've been advised to take iron with oj as it helps the absorption.

Orange juice has been my craving I've drank about 9 litres a week I'm not even kidding, maybe more some weeks. X

I drank a lot of oj during my pregnancy. Baby is perfectley healthy!

I did have low iron levels so maybe body needed it like Convincing says

It's not going to do you any harm - or the baby, but it is equivalent sugar/calorie wise as drinking coke!
So as pp say brush your teeth well!
As long as your aware of this I think it's no prob -only when people drinking it with the thought that it's a healthy drink - like my diabetic mil confused

Thanks everyonesmile I have braces so I have to brush my teeth a million times a day anyway and I've always taken good care of them so hopefully no falling out teeth haha. X

There is a lot of sugar in it though, so depending on your diet it might be having an impact on your and baby's weight gain.

I'd water it down 50/50 at least.

A little bottle of orange juice has nearly the exact same amount of sugar in it that a can of Coke does. A carton probably has more. I'm only aware of this because I was told by my old midwife a couple years ago that lots of sugar makes for a big baby, I've never forgotten it. Now this time around I'm petrified of touching 2 sugary snacks a day (although I do and feel guilty) in case this baby is huge!

One of the few cravings I had. Orange juice and tinned sausage and beans! One of the GPs U I worked with wondered if my iron was low (lots of iron in baked beans and Vit C helps its absorption).

It was fine, I was just really loving OJ and tinned food blush

My midwife told me to have a glass of orange juice each morning as it's a good way to pack in a bit more iron x
