The midwife says they won't do it until baby's heads in place 😞

I was due on the 9th too!
Have next midwife appt on Monday, and she will do a sweep. Really hope he comes before then, DS1 came in his due date so expected similar this time!

I was due the 6th and still waiting so believe me I feel your frustration. I had a sweep yesterday but the midwife advised me not to be too disappointed if nothing happened as generally they don't really do anything for first time mums. At that point I was desperate enough to try anything. She also said the reason they won't do them if baby is not engaged is because there is a risk of cord prolapse if the sweep causes the waters to break.

I was due the 9th too. Had 1 sweep, midwife thought I was quite close and I lost my plug after but nothing since. Another sweep booked in for Weds but I'm losing the will to live over the lack of sleep!!

So I thought I would do the "labour dance" it's supposed to put you into labour 8 hours after doing it!
I done it at 10ish last night and my waters burst at 4am🙈
Went to the hospital and they confirmed and have been sent home in early stages of labour so I'm just breathing through these contractions waiting for my little girl to arrive soon ❤️👶🏻🍼

Feel for you all! went 2 weeks overdue with my DD. hoping same won't happen 2nd time around. easier said than done but I would forget about your due date now. they don't really mean anything. just add 2 weeks to your due date and know you will definitely have your baby by then...

I had a sweep because my lo's head wasn't fully engaged so my waters wouldn't break.
I was due on August 30th which was a Sunday. I had been having contractions since the Tuesday so they asked if I want wait and see if labour would progress naturally and I said yes. It didn't so I had the sweep at 3pm on the Friday. Went to the birth centre at 9pm, and my baby was born at 6.58 Saturday morning- 6 days late. And my waters never broke naturally so the midwife had to do it at 3am.
They should offer you one

Good luck OP! I'm going to try the labour dance, if anything it should make me a bit less moody today so worth a try. Just glad you wernt referring to sex!

How is everyone doing? Hope your little one arrived shesays
I had lots of contractions last night with mild cramps and back pain. Really thought it was starting to happen, took myself to bed to get some rest in and it all just stopped. Really hope that all these stops/starts are actually doing something to help and when things do kick off then half the job is done! Wishful thinking!

No joy here. Had a few cramps/contractions the last few evenings, but then they've eased off. Sweep tomorrow morning so that may get things moving.
I tried the labour dance! Although I may not have put quite enough effort in... 😆

Update from me. Waters broke at 12am contractions started immediately and I was fully dilated by 4am. Pushed for 4 hours before they listened to me and decided I needed some help so my boy Will was born this morning at 8.58am by forceps delivery and he is perfect x

I was due on Friday. Have been having stop-start contractions for 2 weeks, lower back pain, cramps, dodgy tummy... At first I thought "wow, ok, this is it, in the next few days..." but the longer this goes on the less I can believe it.

Had a sweep yesterday, midwife warned me that it probably wouldn't work (first timer). Have been doing Spinning Babies exercises, dancing to Vanilla Ice, the whole bit.

I get a couple of contractions and then it just peters out. I wonder if I am doing anything wrong or this is just the way it is with my body.

My uterus has cried wolf so much now, I just don't think it's ever going to happen. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be pregnant forever. Wink

Wonderflonium I was due yesterday technically, although by my dates I was expecting around the 13th. I did have rumblings that day but it's all stopped. I have the MW on Thurs so will ask for a sweep then. Never needed one before....this is my third baby.

Fingers crossed for us soon!

41+2 now, to be induced on Sunday if he doesn't arrive before. I've booked a reflexology appointment tomorrow, in the hope it might move things along - worth a try! Mondays sweep didn't seem to have any effect. Come on babies!
