Brown spotting/cramping

I am currently 24 weeks pregnant. This morning when I woke up and went to the loo I noticed a light brownish stain on the paper when i wiped. Yesterday I had quite a bit of cramping but no stain. I've got a pain in my lower back and ribs but have a horrendous cough so don't know if That's because I've pulled a muscle coughing! Has anyone else experienced anything similar? As it's the weekend there are no doctors open so I can't ring or get an appointment for advice

Are you in the UK? I'd call the labour ward and ask for advice, or you may have been given an out of hours midwife number? Either way, I wouldn't ignore bleeding at 24 weeks.

Do you have high blood pressure or could you? A history of stroke, heart disease in the family?

please call local maternity advice unit asap I suspect they'll ask you to come in.

Im going to sound like a massive hypocrite because if i saw brown or blood i would be in the hospital and absolutely hysterical BUT i bled from 8 weeks till 16 weeks and when i went in for a scan at 16 weeks, the midwife said unless its bright red and like a period amount, it is very likely to be normal. She didnt say anything about spotting and pains but i was always lead to believe brown was old blood? I did phone the epu once when i had the tiniest brown spots but they said the same about it being bright red and period like. If the pain gets worse or you're worrying, you can always phone the out of hours or the maternity ward.
Also, I had old blood just lingering in my stomach at a scan and they said that could come out brown, maybe its something like that or if you've dtd, had an internal examination within the last few days etc, that could cause brown discharge. Its probably okay x

She's been moving around and her heartbeat is fine when listening on the Doppler and haven't had any since this morning. I think I'm worrying over nothing and the amount of coughing I've done the past few days I think I may have pulled something which is where the pain is coming from

It's the coughing that's worrying me - for you less than baby. PLEASE speak to a maternity professional
