Weird period..

Hi so my husband and I have been ttc. In July we found out we were expecting only to find out at the first scan that we had had a missed miscarriage. Eventually I ended up with d n c as never miscarried naturally. That was Sept. Periods seemed to return to normalish.. Although I've noticed it seems to be about 25 day cycles instead of 28 at least this time anyway (I'm using clue app to keep track).so was a bit earlier than expected and lasted 6days of red bleeding before finally tailing off but now on day 8 I'm still having pink spotting.. I don't know what is going on? Is it from the first miscarriage? my period have never lasted this long maybe 4 or 5 days but this seems so much longer sorry for if it's tmi

Sorry about the MC love.
Your hormones are probably still out of whack. After my 2nd MC I bled for 14weeks. Imagine, 14 weeks of bleed and my haemoglobin was still 11. So I will never slowly bleed to death... ha anyway sorry, you could go back to your dr for a pill px or else take a morning after pill, they might shock your system into rebooting.
I had desperate spotting since I stopped BF in June, constant spotting in the month with maybe 5-10 days free, and my friend recommended Vitex Agnus Castus. I took a rather large dose of that every morning and it actually restarted my cycle in the middle of it so rather than get AF I ovulated...and now I'm 4.5weeks pregnant! Which wasn't the idea but I can say it has stopped my spotting 😝
Good luck x

Sorry about your mmc. After mine, my periods didn't ever return to how they were before.

Op I just reread my message, I hope you didn't think I was being nasty or inconsiderate by mentioning my pregnancy.
I've had v little sleep recently... like 2-3 hrs per night, I think it affects my judgment!

I'm in the waiting game anyway, only a 50% track record.

Positive thoughts for you!

The weird period I had (long/light/early) a few years ago was implantation bleeding. Have you checked you're not pregnant?

Can't be much help I'm afraid but just wanted to say sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I imagine it was devastating. I just wanted to say that i second Agnus Castus to try and get things in order. It helped start my periods after over 11 years on the injection and I fell pregnant in the second cycle.

Calimommy - not at all.. Its nice to hear some positive messages there's times when its hard to believe it will ever happen! Congratulations on your pregnancy I hope it goes well!!

ConvincingLiar no I haven't done a test I assumed its just my period and was disappointed to see it meant another month of not pregnant! Thing is we weren't really actively trying before the mc though we're thrilled to get the news we were expecting but now all Im disappointed every month I'm not...

Hi convincing liar so I took your advice and did a text but I was so convinced it would be negative but I used a clear blue digital test.. It says pregnant 1-2 weeks but now I am seriously confused and worried.. I had bleeding that looked like a period it was heavy enough and while it's stopped now mainly except some spotting when wiping (tmi sorry!) what does it mean? Could I actually be 1-2 weeks pregnant or could the bleeding I had last week have been another miscarriage without me knowing? I dont want to get my hopes up incase that's what happened....

Implantation bleeding can vary from person to person. It's usually v light and one to two days max but I've heard of other women with longer experiences. Maybe?

Or a SCH subchorionic haematoma. It's like a bruise at the point of implantation and bleeds. I had one before.

Congrats btw x

I'm sorry you're stuck in limbo. The only answer I think is to wait and see. I had quite a lot of bleeding with my now 2 year old, never any explanation for it. I've also had a fair bit of bleeding in this pregnancy (now 20+ weeks) at 5, 7, 9ish weeks. I would think you may as well wait another week+ and then test again with the same type of test. I'm assuming the weeks indicator works on how much hcg there is. If it's rising that'd be good news and if it's falling that'd be bad? It sounds like you're way too early for a scan, so aside from a blood test to measure hcg(?) I don't think a doctor can do anything for you.

Thanks for the advice.. Waiting is always hard.. Its nice to hear that it's not necessarily all bad although I still don't want to get my hopes up just yet especially after already having had a mmc back in August. Can't see much point in going to docs at this point as last time all they did was say if there was a positive home test they just sent your details on to hospital and to wait for the booking appointment to come through.

Hi just wanted to give u abit of positive support about the implantation bleeding. I was breastfeeding my 9 month old when myself and OH decided to try for another so wasn't having periods. As I was starting back at work we cut down on feeds and low and behold my period came back. I had 3-4 days of heavy bright red bleeding with lots of clots ( which was a normal period for me) then a few days of spotting. I was excited as it meant I could start tracking ovulation. 2 weeks later I started using ovulation sticks and was glad to see I was ovulating except the line never got stronger just stayed the same light pink for a week ( on ovulation sticks u get a light pink line which will get stronger the closer u get to ovulation day) of course I Google it and it said take a pregnancy test as u may already be pregnant. Took a test and said 2-3 weeks. Was extremely confused as I'd had what I thought was a normal period. Did expect it to happen so quick, thought we might have months of trying but he's now a happy little 2 year old. Good luck and positive thoughts to you. Xx

Not pinning your hopes on this is a good idea. Try and keep busy to distract yourself. Having a history of mc is anxiety provoking, but unless there's something exceptional about it, it has no bearing on your ability to get pregnant again and to stay pregnant. I think the vast majority of my friends with children have had at least 1 loss on the way. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the replies they are reassuring although I'm not sure it will be good news for us. Still waiting to take another test in a few days to see if the weeks go up but I have some bleeding again. No cramps or pain and its not particularly heavy... But thing is if I lay down it stops /goes away but almost as soon as I start walking it starts up again. Started on Friday after I did a 3mile walk home.. I'm a primary school teacher so unfortunately being on my feet comes with the job :-/

I think you should see/speak to your GP. They should be able to organise a scan for you for a couple of weeks' time so that you can get a definite answer as to what is going on.

Plenty of women bleed in early pregnancy. Its possible for a pregnancy to progress perfectly well even with bleeding.

However, in the meantime if you develop pain, make sure you seek medical attention as a priority.

Thanks ineednewshoes I have tried to book a gp appointment but the earliest I can get is next Friday :-/ my gp seem to "book out" weeks in advance.

When was your last period? If you're more than 5 weeks pregnant it would be worth phoning your local Early Pregnancy Unit directly. They might be willing to book you in for a scan next week to establish what's going on.

Hi all.... I have some light spotting which comes and goes since last night but nothing major. I've done a pregnancy test and so have the hospital. But I have very bad cramping on occassionally.... hospital want to do scans on 11/01 to check all is ok.

Ineednewshoes I'm not really sure when my last true period was anymore.. So I had what I thought was my period on the 29th Dec but it didn't seem right and someone in here suggested doing a test which I did last Tues night. It came back 1-2 weeks pregnant. If I go back to the period before that its exactly 5weeks today from that one. They said the last time if I was to get pregnant again I could self refer as long as I was after 7 weeks.. So still at least 2 more to that... Will they scan earlier??

Seriously fighting the urge to do more clear blue digital pregnancy tests for another few days (already done two in 2 days last week) and at almost £10 a test I really shouldn't!

I would say its best to wait until 7 weeks if you can possibly manage it. You'll get a definite answer that way, whereas at 6 weeks sometimes they can't find the heartbeat yet and you'd have another agonising week before they scan you again. At 7 weeks they'll either see a heartbeat or they won't.

As long as you're not in pain or bleeding seriously heavily there is nothing to be done anyway at this stage.

I know its awful, the waiting and wondering Flowers

Try not to spend your life savings on ClearBlues in the meantime Smile and if you do want to buy more, buy them online so that they're cheaper and will take a couple of days to get to you. That'll force you to space out the tests a bit Wink

Tilly2017 it's better to start a new thread/comment if you have questions about your self 👍

Op I swear by First Response. Red dry tests non-digital are far more reliable in my humble opinion. That said, if you have a MC the hormones stay in your system for quite a while afterwards so any test will read +. I know your going to go crazy but do try to wait it out a bit, get to 7/8weeks and get your scan. Lots of women have bleeding at the start of a pregnancy. So save your money because even if you keep testing + it could be the left over hormones OR it could be your little bean growing. I leaning towards the latter for you.

Been a while since I posted on this and I have to say I'm now even more thoroughly confused than ever. So I waited a week (OK I did one in the middle also :-)) so then I had the two positive tests and then the last one was negative.. I thought OK end of story.. I was expecting the negative in some way. But my friend convinced me to book a docs appointment anyway particularly cos she said if it's 2 they should know icase it happens again. Had that appointment last week and freaked out a little told doc about bleeding but not about the positive tests (was bleeding again) altho no cramps. Normally I live on paracetamol and ibrofen for the first 2 or 3 days of my period. She said to come back today for a smear test.. I plucked up courage today to tell the whole story (I have a slight fear of doctors, hospitals and all things medical) kinda a if I don't tell they can't tell me anything is wrong sort of thing. So today doc was a little confused said mc could maybe explain the bleeds (as I did have a negative home test) bit that she wanted to do a test also that she didn't expect it to be positive but just so she had ticked all the boxes. . The test was positive! Ahhhh more confused that ever!!!! Doc couldnt say much other than she thinks dont get hopes up as it was so hard last time around with miscarriage. Going for a scan on Friday morning.

Hi everyone,

I had a D&C start August (10 weeks ago), have ovulated (4 weeks ago), and have had light brown discharge but no period. Pregnancy tests and bloods are negative too. Have had a scan and told everything looks fine and just to wait for my period but 10 weeks is an awful long time.

Does anyone have any advice on how to induce my period? Helped with ovulation? Or even anything they've found helped when TTC?

I have PCOS & Endometriosis.

Thank you! Smile
