Stress while pregnant

I think my hormones are keeping me from being totally stressed out even though some recent circumstances would usually have more affect on me.

With this in mind I'm worried that once the pregnancy is over I'll be really stressed!

2 questions really - does anyone think pregnancy can mask real reactions to things?

AND - does stress in pregnancy effect the baby inside the womb? Does the baby know if the expectant mother is feeling any kind of anxiety/pressure? Talking mental stress over physical.

I don't know factually..... But I have had a few periods of stress this pregnancy (now 35 weeks) and I notice bubs goes a lot quieter in movements when I am stressed.

I had some very bad news in August and I went into actual shock which I have never had before and had worse news. I don't know if that was to protect myself or bubs. Who knows.

Thanks divadee - sorry to hear you had bad news.
I'm also 35 weeks and have had stressful times during the 8 months but kept bouncing back in a way I don't think i would if I wasn't pregnant?
Amazing how the body does things - and I agree it might be some form of protection without you knowing it.

During my first pregnancy I went through quite a bit of stress. All around 12 weeks my mum started chemo treatment, my grandmother died and I started a new job. And my house was being decorated (cue major upheaval). I think I am quite a 'coper' but I do think pregnancy helped me isolate from it. Never had catch up effects afterwards. Said baby is a crazy lovely four year old now.

I hope you're ok OP.

Jenijena - thank you thats reassured me re: after effects, although sorry to hear that early time was so difficult for you, glad you coped. I'm ok I think I just worry in case life circumstances are doing any harm. And sometimes its hard to remove yourself completely from them esp. if personal like yours (and mine) were x

Sometimes it seems like every other pregnant person has a perfect little life but that is not the case at all. We all go through stress in pregnancy, some worse than others. You'll be fine Flowers
