I don't think my baby will ever come

I'm 40+3 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first was born 4 weeks early. I really expected DS2 to be here by now.
I have no signs whatsoever. He isn't even a little bit engaged. I see the midwife tomorrow and she was supposed to be doing a sweep. I doubt she will because he is still so high up.
I don't want a C section or induction but expect this is inevitable now.

Sorry for the pity party- just feel really fed up with it all. On top of general pregnancy misery I also have some horrible cold thing that isn't shifting.
I'm snuggled up in bed with a hot water bottle unable to sleep wondering what it would be like to be pregnant FOREVER.

I went almost three weeks late! Your baby will be here before you know it.

Symbista Tue 29-Nov-16 03:14:13

I was you almost 6 months ago. Ds1 came on his due date so I couldn't believe it when I went overdue with ds2. I was miserable and found it so hard to cope. The bad news is that I went a week over but the good news is from the first mild contraction to holding him in my arms was 2 1/2 hours ☺️ So hopefully when it does start it will be nice and quick.

KittensWithSuperpowers Tue 29-Nov-16 03:19:57

Baby will be here in a week or so no matter what.

Ds came 40+10-day before induction <relieved>

I can sympathise. Ds1 went 13 days over. Longest 13 days ever. I'm now 39 weeks with ds2 and so impatient despite not even being at my due date yet. This whole pregnancy has been different so I've been hoping that the labour and birth would happen sooner. It won't be long and we'll both be holding our new babies.

I'm 39+2 and feeling the same way. I'm so uncomfortable and miserable.

Come on babies! Come out!

NotSureYet Tue 29-Nov-16 04:19:16

40 + 2 here with DD2. DD1 came on her due date so I'm another one despairing at going overdue. Should hopefully be offered a sweep on Thursday if baby hasn't shifted by then. So uncomfortable and can't sleep at all. Ugh.

Only 37+1 with dc1 and already feel like this and might have another 5 weeks yet sad and now started with insomnia for no reason....

DuggeeSchmuggee Tue 29-Nov-16 04:48:01

Have you got a sweep booked? Both mine arrived the day before I was due one (40+2 and 40+1). Don't know whether it was the imminent threat of the sweep that did it? Also with my second I had no signs he was coming till the morning he was born. Just show, then contractions and out!

Just hang on in there. You've still got nearly 2 weeks before they induce? A lot can happen in two weeks.

stolemyusername Tue 29-Nov-16 04:54:50

Yep, you're right! You are going to be the first woman to get to 37 years gestation - not sure where you get maternity wear for then though wink

LBOCS2 Tue 29-Nov-16 05:17:17

DD1 arrived at 38+3.

DD2 was at 41+0. Longest week ever. You've still got time though, a lot can change very quickly with number two smile

Thank you everyone. I know he will be here soon enough it's just hard living with the anticipation. Every twinge I think it's the start of something and I end up disappointed!
I'm due a sweep this afternoon but have been told midwife can only do it if baby is engaged.
We will all be holding our babies soon and it will be worth it. Having said that this pregnancy has made me even more sure I only want 2 children. Never again!

sj257 Tue 29-Nov-16 12:05:25

Induction isn't so bad, I've had two. My first was born at 42+1 and second at 41+4. There's talk of inducing me at 38 weeks this time which is so bizarre! It will feel a month too early lol xx I know how miserable being overdue is but try and relax and enjoy doing some things you won't be able to when the baby comes xxx

I remember being at the 40+ stage too well, and I did feel like I was going to just be pregnant forever. You have my sympathies!

PeppaAteMySoul Tue 29-Nov-16 14:41:15

Baby is 3/5 engaged (finally) yay! Managed to have a sweep. Wasn't painful at all or even uncomfortable really. Worried after everyone else saying how painful it is that she didn't do it thoroughly enough and it won't work. At least there is some progress though!

user1480432465 Tue 29-Nov-16 15:23:02

I am due today, ironically. There couldn't be LESS sign of my baby arriving if nature tried! I am bouncing between being completely care-free about the whole situation, knowing that I have this beautiful little baby safe inside me - then then next second, I am furious that my baby hasn't arrived yet.. and there's nothing I can do about it.
I am finding it difficult to handle the "is baby here yet" messages, currently on my 19th message today.. so to tackle this, I posted publicly on Facebook that my baby is more than happy to stay indoors today - and no amount of shouting and asking is going to change that.
I wish I could just be Mrs Positive all the time...

PeppaAteMySoul Tue 29-Nov-16 16:05:46

Yes to the constant bombardment of messages about baby coming/ any signs of labour. I might follow your lead with the Facebook message!

Winegumaddict Tue 29-Nov-16 16:40:26

I feel your pain. I'm 40+1 with DC2 my first arrived at 40+1 so I'm cross to still be here no sign of anything starting. I know it can't be long but it feels like I'll never have this baby. Plus I had a very fast first labour so I'm reluctant to go too far from home which is a bit dull.

I felt like this. I went into spontaneous labour 11 days after my due date, after we'd just got home from the hospital meeting to discuss how far I could go without being induced. As it happens I never felt his head fully engage and it turns out he was back to back with the cord in a funny position. In the end they gave me a choice of high forceps or EMCS - I chose EMCS and don't regret it one bit. DS is happy and healthy and recovery was fine. (I was told later by a consultant that the forceps would have been unlikely to work in my case, so if I'd gone down that route I'd still have needed a section! But I sort of just knew that without them telling me. Trust your instincts!)

Bumpsadaisie Tue 29-Nov-16 23:02:36

Ah. My DC2 was 11 days over. By 40+11 I had given up hope altogether.

I can even remember thinking "god I am fed up with pregnancy, pregnancy is s**t. I am getting aches and pains every 30 mins this afternoon. FGS."

I had so given up on the idea of him coming that it might actually be the start of things. It was only when I was moaning to DH about it and said "do you think I had better come home then?" that it clicked!

PeppaAteMySoul Tue 29-Nov-16 23:13:31

I just want my body back! Sweep doesn't seem to have done anything. No contractions, losing show or plug.
DP jokingly said I look like a Christmas bauble- something I would normally find funny but today I just wanted to cry. Come on baby out you come.

PeppaAteMySoul Wed 30-Nov-16 18:35:39

Losing huge chunks of plug today. Urgh. Pregnancy is not dignified/ attractive.

KittensWithChristmasHatsOn Wed 30-Nov-16 18:57:44

Well things are moving then grinwine

PeppaAteMySoul Wed 30-Nov-16 19:14:37
