How did you announce your pregnancy?

Apparently I'm not the only one in my Facebook/extended family/life to recently find out they're pregnant! All the announcements have been very sweet but I'm lost at what to do now. I was see myself as creative but I've hit a block! A generic status will not cut it with me! (The important people are being told face to face on Christmas Day/s)

How did you announce your pregnancy to the world?

DamsonGinIsMyThing Mon 28-Nov-16 04:13:16

I told my partner by giving him a 'good luck' card.
I told my mum over lunch in Nando's.
I'm not putting it on Facebook, I don't put much on there.

Is it necessary to 'announce' it to the world? Can you not just tell people? I told people when I saw them then a few others I texted.

Interpretative dance (with DH mirroring in mine) and a brass band.

I told my family by giving them a party and announcing in the end during desserts.

A light aircraft pulling a massive banner, which flew over Central London at rush hour twice a day for a week.

Bit spendy, but I don't see any of my mates topping that, ha!

I didn't have too, the papers found out about it and competed who will break the news first.

What they didn't know is I leaked the news to a friendly journo.

Took out a 30s advert slot during the breaks in Corrie.

DH and I didn't bother announcing.
We told our family and close friends face to face. I don't really give a fuck about a girl I went to school with 25 years ago "knowing"

DownWithThisSortaThing Mon 28-Nov-16 07:25:35

Told people..

pinkieandperkie Mon 28-Nov-16 07:28:54

I told people

Lovewatchingrainfall Mon 28-Nov-16 07:29:51

I didn't. I am due in two weeks and I'm sure there are loads of people I have not told.

My Daughter who is 3 had a book, my husband I took him car shopping and said I needed a bigger car.
My mum I wrote to and told her, and the in laws my DH told. I have told a few people that I speak to other then that there is nothing on Facebook etc.

When I was about 20 weeks I put up a picture of a bun in an oven. Tbh most people knew by then because I'd seen and told them and the rest didn't really give a shit smile

Bauble16 Mon 28-Nov-16 07:39:11

I'm 15 weeks. Told close friends and family but nothing is on Facebook. Tbh nobody really cares unless your close to them. This is dc3 so learnt along the way!

I told people as and when I saw them / wanted to. It's still not on Facebook and it won't be.

Milzilla Mon 28-Nov-16 08:55:02

I thought announcements were for the likes of births, marriages and deaths. Not pregnancy...

I have just told people close to us as I have seen them.

Arfarfanarf Mon 28-Nov-16 09:02:33

I told my husband, phoned my family and told other people when it came up. Those i forgot to tell noticed eventually 😁

arbrighton Mon 28-Nov-16 09:03:45

I've told people in conversation as it's come up- mum on the phone as she was starting to talk about shifting bags of compost etc at school gardening.

I suspect I might post something like a new year's resolution/ task for 2017 of 'complete growing a new person'

How did you announce your pregnancy to the world?

I think you are vastly overestimating how much "the world" cares. Just say you are pregnant. Anything else just screams "look at me".

Herecomedanotherone Mon 28-Nov-16 09:24:51

In the days before facebook, we told parents face to face. Everybody else was sent a bottle of champagne for Christmas with a card to be opened at lunch, which asked them to use the champagne to toast the news. It was lovely - over the course of a couple of hours we had phone calls from most of the family who thought it was a lovely way to announce, it also meant no-one got arsey about who was told first.

mouldycheesefan Mon 28-Nov-16 09:27:02

When I was pregnant it was before the days of "announcing" , we just informed people.

clumsyduck Mon 28-Nov-16 09:27:32

"Im pregnant "

Like that.

Sorry op but in the nicest possible way It doesn't need to be a big announcement . The most important people already know anyway

BobbieDog Mon 28-Nov-16 09:31:42

I got moaned at by the way i announced my pregnancy.

I didnt tell anyone apart from my mum until i was 16 weeks. I knew alot of people would be surprised (it is dc2) due to various reasons.

We have a secret family group on facebook. All my family go on facebook several times a day so i put it in the secret family group so everyone could see at once who was family only.

I got a phone call from my aunt within minutes saying it was very impersonal to do that and i should of rang everyone.

The only people i told to their face was my mum and sister.

I didnt want the hassle of ringing everyone individually and them all asking was it planned etc and having a half hour conversation with every single person!
