Pregnancy

Faint, feeling sick and losing feeling in my hands

Hello.

I'm 17 weeks with dc2 and feeling sick and faint daily. I have nearly fainted several times but managed to sit down fast.

Today I had another funny episode and lost feeling in my hands and felt very ill!

After a 10 min lie down I felt fine.

Blood pressure was fine at my 16 week midwife appointment.

Is this something to worry about or just all part of the joys of pregnancy?

I felt like that recently with a sickness bug at 20 weeks. My feet and legs got pins and needles too but it passed in a couple of hours.
Might you have been breathing too fast or not deep enough? That can cause numbness in your extremities.
The rest sounds like pregnancy to me, but I'm not an expert!

I had similar, repeatedly. Breathless sick faint with weird muscle aches every morning. Had a blood test and I had pregnancy induced anaemia. Sorted out with iron tablets pretty quickly. Good luck.

God knows why I miss being pregnant! Had that, awful PGP and constant diabetes scares! And yet I feel all soft and fuzzy when I look back on it!

I get these including loosing feeling in my hands when I have low blood sugar.
Sometimes it's so bad my hands curl up into weird claws and I can't straighten them out.

I felt like this for much of my early pregnancy ( 1 week to go!!!)and been told it was low blood pressure, and was also diagnosed with anaemia. After taking iron tablets for a couple weeks I think I felt a bit better but still struggle a little. Losing feeling in your hands could be carpal tunnel? I feel that too x

I'm 28 weeks and have similar symptoms - how's your resting heart rate? Mine's so fast I've been signed off work. I'm anaemic so they think that's the cause - I'm on heavy-duty iron tablets and may need an infusion. Weirdly, I had a bizarre migraine that they think is related - I didn't have a headache, but I lost vision, speech and all feeling in my right side. Scary! Anyway, my experience would lead me to recommend you go and have a chat with your GP and/or midwife and get them to check your bloods again - I became anaemic surprisingly quickly, and have been so pleasantly surprised by the action everyone's taking and how supportive everyone is! Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Ring your midwife or EPU. I had the same but much later on. Turns out it was a combination of blood pressure and severe B12 deficiency. Always best to get checked.

Get tests for B12 folate and ferritin.
