Work out due date with irregular cycles?! My GP couldn't do it!

Hi,

I'm new here. I just found out I'm pregnant with my first at 34 :) Very excited because we think it was our first attempt. I have irregular periods but fairly regular ovulation, due to CAH. Clearblue weeks indicator says 1-2 weeks (3-4 by doc timings) but my doc said I would be 9 weeks if I go by my last period. I am so irregular that that doesn't mean much and even though I have missed two in theory, I've taken heaps of tests and only got positives yesterday and today. I've taken five to be sure! Basically, my doc has no idea how pregnant I am and says I will be contacted soon and in the meantime just "enjoy." I'm very anxious to find out how pregnant I am. Has anyone seen or been through this?!

Poppy x

If you're just testing positive now, you're most likely around 4 weeks.

Only a scan will date with any accuracy and not until 6+ weeks.

Congratulations! Hopefully they will offer you a dating scan.

If you know when you ovulated, take that date back 14 days and use that as your LMP - so if you ovulated on the 14th, for example, use the 1st as your LMP. The due date calculators assume a 28 day cycle with ovulation pretty much exactly in the middle.

Once you've got your 'new' LMP date, stick it into an online calculator and that is likely to be your due date, give or take three or four days :)

Thank you! Very excited. I might try the weeks indicator thing again in the morning cos I've since found out it's not accurate if used in the evening (which I did). I'd be alarmed indeed if I was already nine weeks!

If you have been testing every few days it will show positive around the 4 week point.

Thanks LB, we are pretty sure we conceived around the 9th when I got my LH surge and gave it a go, cos we were laughing at the time about how ridiculous it would be if we conceived the day of the Trump victory! My OH had to go abroad that night so it's very likely then! 😂

Well, I miscarried. I started getting pains last week, was diagnosed with PUL, had blood tests then started bleeding. Results confirmed today my hormones dropped over 24 hours so that's it. It's really sad but I'm thankful it doesn't seem to have been ectopic and it was just 4.5 weeks. It's weird that thing women say about not feeling pregnant anymore before you've had the confirmation of miscarriage. I pretty much knew from Thursday, Friday and by Friday I didn't feel like there was anything there.

So so sorry for your lost. I had a missed miscarriage. When I was told at 12 weeks there was no heartbeat, the consultant asked me if I knew and I said yes I stopped feeling pregnant a week and a half ago.

Thanks, Lazybeans. Sorry for yours too. It's horrible isn't it? Must have been so awful at 12 weeks so close to thinking you were clear x

Sorry to hear that OP Flowers really glad you have RL support.

When your ready to start again, maybe consider the clear blue monitor it has kept me sane (and I have regular cycles) for knowing when I've ovulated and when to test.

I hope things go well for you
