Amniotic fluid leak or normal discharge? - 15 weeks

I'm 15+4 and last night and today I have had some very watery discharge, dampening my pants.

I saw the GP this morning and said I was concerned about this and that I'd also on a couple of occasions in the last couple of weeks had a bit of smell down there. I mentioned BV and she took a high vaginal swab to test for that. She said she could see what I was talking about and could see watery discharge in the vagina. She didn't seem too worried. She didn't get a look at my cervix because I was already uncomfortable and she said she didn't want to irritate it unnecessarily.

I didn't ask about whether it could be fluid leaking and she didn't mention it. I was worried about that last night but I put a pad on, lay down for a while and then got up and didn't seem to feel any gushing. I wore a pad to sleep in and it was really hard to tell in the morning whether I'd leaked or how much. It didn't look significant.

So, when I saw the GP I think I was feeling a bit more optimistic but I wonder if subconsciously I was also a bit scared to mention the worst case scenario. I wish I had asked now.

Today I had damp pants when I got back from the GP but assumed that was the lubricant from the speculum (TMI!). Then it seemed fine for a little while, then the watery discharge started again.

Have another pad on and am lying down again. Really don't want to call MAU or anything like that if it's not necessary. But I can't help feeling a bit scared.

I have tried giving it a smell (!) but can't really tell if it's sweet or not. I saw online that that can be an indicator.

I'm 34 weeks now but can clearly remember being astonished at the amount of wetness and discharge I had from about 12 weeks. I'm pretty certain what you've got is completely normal and the swab won't take long to come back. Of course if you're worried at all then get medical advice tho.

I remember having a lot of discharge in pregnancy and I used panty liners most of the time.

Totally normal. I recommend wearing panty liners as well.

Thanks for the replies! Feeling reassured.
After lying down for half an hour and getting up no gushing or sudden leaking anything like that, so I hope it is just a funny discharge phase. Will stock up on the pantyliners.

I remember this starting at around 17 weeks with me, had to wear liners for the remainder of the pregnancy otherwise I'd have to change my underwear Blush

I was tested for strep b etc but all came back clear. One of the many delights of pregnancy :)
