Anyone else obsessing over kicks?

Hi all! I'm currently 23 weeks along and in the past 3 or so weeks I've noticed my wee boy kicking alot more - it's definitley progressed from little flutters to full on kicks and wriggling so much so I've started to notice my bump moving! I absolutely love it but is anyone else weirdly scared if you don't notice them moving for a wee while? I'm trying not to obsess over him moving but everytime I feel it I want to look at the clock and if 10 minutes pass and I don't feel him again I get really scared. I know it's silly and my husband's amazing at reassuring me but just wondered if anyone else is the same?

Karen you could be me! I'm at the same time as you - 23 weeks, also with a boy! And yes, I am absolutely dreadful at obsessing immediately if I haven't felt him for what is probably a stupidly short period of time - 15 mins or 30 mins or so.

I was so bad at the weekend that I phoned the local midwife team (mind, I'd only felt him a few times that day - between 11am-5pm, but was incredibly busy) and they advised lying on my left for 2 hours, counting all movements to reach a count of 10. Apparently that threshold is deemed acceptable. I was terrible as for the first 30 mins I felt nothing!!

So yes, now I can feel him, I'm also obsessing quite a bit. I'm trying my hardest not to... but it's hard!

So it's not just me! Last night he was kicking like mad during supper then in the later evening when he's normally most active I couldn't feel him. I do the same - lie on your side and normally he kicks away but that didn't wok so I was panicking. I have read that they do start to sleep longer from now so he was probably just having a nap. The relief you feel though when you get a kick is overwhelming!

Most definitely obsessing. I was the same with my first ds. But I am a worrier in general. Confused

Glad I'm not the only one after all and we can reassure each other! I'll also put my hand up to be a worrier in general too!

Yep, definitely. Luckily my little one is very active so now I'm almost 37 weeks, I feel her a lot of the day.

I have spent hours lying awake in the middle of the night in the past as I can't go back to sleep until I've felt a kick. Again, luckily these days I'm not kept awake for long as she's so active (unless she's really going for it and using my ribs as target practice!)

I'm also 23 (+5) and a bit obsessed!
My little one usually has a dance in a morning but last night she was on the move much more than normal and she had a little sleep in this morning...hence a lot of belly prodding from me! The worrying never ends!

I'm so glad it's not just me! 22+5 and been stressing all week about movements which seem to come and go. Contacted MW and they were so relaxed about it i felt like i'd completely over reacted which then made me feel even worse! It just never ends the worry over this little one and i'm sure it's no better once baby has arrived.

Lynsey heheh! I have been the same today! My LO is usually quite active in the morning too, but today he was a bit quieter, so I gave him the drink equivalent of a cold shower, which probably wasn't appreciated!!

Pooky - my midwife said to contact them if there was anything worrying me but I don't think they'd appreciate 20 calls a day!
And I did the cold drink thing yesterday kiki - poor wee thing was probably having a nice nap and I did the equivelant of throwing cold water all over him!

Karen - my MW said the same about calling with any problem but her tone when I actually do this says "stop bothering me you crank!" Maybe I've just been unlucky with my MW or maybe I'm a pain in the butt first time mum who knows!!

Made me giggle out loud kiki! We really do turn into crazy ladies when pregnant don't we! Aw it's nice to know we can all be a little nuts together Smile but in all seriousness, always ring the midwife if your concerned.
They always say they'd rather check and things all be ok than not check and baby be in distress x
