Help! Just discovered high BP at 4 weeks

Ive just found out i am pregnant and been to see my GP. My weight is well within my BMI but my BP is measuring 140ish/110!! She took it 3 times and on 2 different machines so no mistaking it. Im only 4 weeks pregnant and worried what this may mean. The GP has made her referral to the midwife unit at my local hospiyal but asked me to come back next week to get my BP checked again. For what its worth i dont have white coat syndrome. Help! Anyone with experiences of high BP in early pregnancy?

Have you had your BP tested recently before you were pregnant? I had high BP throughout both my pregnancies but I had essential hypertension beforehand anyway.

Yes, I had medication throughout pregnancy to manage my BP, which worked well. There's a few different ones that they can use, if they think it's necessary. They may also transfer you to consultant led care instead of midwife led.
