32 weeks. Feeling less movement??

Hi everyone. I am 32 weeks pregnant & a ftm. During the last month or so i've been feeling my daughter a lot less. I've been for ctgs at the hospital multiple times & all have been well. I've even had 3 scans in the last month & in all of them my daughter has been fine. When I'm at the hospital she seems to kick up a storm but when i get home she barely moves. I feel like at the hospital they think i'm crazy as when i get there she's fine. I really don't know what to do, she was the most active baby ever now she barely moves. Do you think this could just be her routine as around this time they have sleep schedules? I have monitoring three times a week & weekly scans due to not feeling her but the multiple doctors i've spoken to all agree that she is fine and the monitor is purely down to reassure me. This week her movements have been even less, even though at my scan yesterday all was fine. Do you think she could of changed positions? I can normally feel her bum around my belly button area now I can't & i feel hiccups in a different place. I just feel like i'm constantly worrying, i barely sleep at night because i'm watching out for her movements. I really don't know how i'm going to get through this next eight weeks. Any advice? Has anyone been through the same thing?

Yes me! This is my second pregnancy and you would think that I would be worried less but nope I am fretting away.

I haven't been in yet this time but I did go into the labour ward for monitoring with my first - I am now 38 weeks and will be induced in a couple of weeks. I tend to feel her.moving around first thing in the morning and last thing at night but during the day she seems much too quiet.

The advice i was given last time lie quietly in a room with no distractions (no phone, music etc) after a cold sugary drink (like coke) and count the.movements you feel. When you focus on the.movements you might be surprised how many you are feeling. Now I have started my maternity leave I have done this a few times and it is very reassuring Smile.

That said if you are genuinely worried you should always call the labour ward to ask for advice - they won't mind - better to be safe.

Good luck!

Don't forget that as they get bigger you will feel them move less because there isn't as much room. At first you can feel them flipping and rolling and all sorts but eventually they run out of space for that sort of thing. If you're being regularly monitored and you literally went yesterday you may need to just take a deep breath and trust all is well. I know this sounds weird but I've found that my tiny one will not move as much when she's being watched, she'll be wriggling like mad and when I get my tummy out to show the bf she stops. If I put my mums hand on my tummy, she stops. As greenlizard said, lay somewhere quiet, warm, covered, comfortable and drink something really sugary. As long as you're feeling bits and bobs it's fine :)

Just to clarify before everyone jumps on me :) when I say feel them move less I mean it doesn't feel as forceful as before, because they have less room Smile xxx

I'm 32 weeks and have been feeling the same. I feel like he's changed positions and his movements feel different and comes from different places. I worried at first but because to me it didn't feel right, as in normal for him and me but then I realized as I was laid back and focused that I could feel him fine, it was just in a different way then I was used to! He's kicking away now! I know if I was really worried I would ring my midwife, but I know it's sometimes that I overthink things. He tends to be most active early morning and in the evening. Hope this helps in some way, I know that reading this post has made me feel a lot better and not alone! X

Mine kicks less during the day but has woken me up at night by having a storm. I think night is the time for this baby. During the day he shifts and hiccups but definitely has less room.

I've been to hospital a few times too. Baby doesn't have a schedule to watch out for which worried me. Now if I worry I drink ice cold coke and lay on my left side. Or eat something spicy. I pay for it but I'm happy to have the movements.

If you are worried go to hospital. They'd rather you were there every day then avoided and something was wrong.

I had this from 32 weeks with my last baby. He would go 9 hours without a movement and I kept going to hospital and they would put me on the machines then scan me and see a tiny movement of his arm and stop scanning and they said my placenta was at th front and I said yes I know but here is his foot in my side.... why isn't he kicking?? They just kept telling me he's fine. At 37 wks they were sick of me and induced me. As soon as I started to contract his heart rate was going down Everytime. They made me May on my left and it made no difference so lay on my right and it stopped it happening again. His cord was compressed down my left side. I spent a full labour on my right side

Do you know where the placenta is op? Sometimes that can affect the feeling of movement. That's great news that she's ok.

My placenta is posterior high, so at the back high up so i know that's definitely not affecting movement. But i had a growth scan yesterday and she's growing amazingly well, they said she is 4lbs 11oz now & i'm 34 weeks on sunday so i would say she's doing great, there were no problems with fluid or the cord which was lovely news. Although i did wake up a few times in the night last night with no movement,i sat up & flashed my torch on my belly and she was wriggling aboutConfused so i guess i'm maybe just not feeling a lot of her movements. Oh & she is head down, during the scan i got to see her little fingers & toes & her cute button nose. Made me even more excited to meet her. Not long now. I'm just glad she's doing well. I think its just because she's bigger now the movements are a lot more subtle so i'm just not noticing them as much as i would notice the somersaults lol xx

That's great! So exciting. I'm just a bit further then you and definitely feeling less kicks, think I'm getting used to them plus baby shifts and wiggles more which are more subtle.

Perhaps you're having painless braxton hicks? I was in ALL.THE.TIME for monitoring with ds as I couldn't feel his movements; from about 30 weeks it was the worst, but when they put me on the machine it turned out I was having braxton hicks every few minutes - I honestly did not know anything was happening! - and whilst my uterus was contracting I couldn't feel his movements :/

This freaked me out no end, hence me being back in all the time as not being able to feel him meant I always worried I wouldn't know if he wasn't moving. They didn't mind though, they said they'd have be back in every day if I couldn't feel him, even if it was just the braxton hicks masking the movements. I had him at 37 weeks so I didn't need to wait much longer after that :) Not long now user, good luck!

Yep amazing news. I have been on the monitor quite a few times, maybe i am having braxton hicks although they haven't mentioned them to me. I do think its perhaps she sleeps for longer stretches now. A few drs have said to me babies sleep patterns can vary and can sometimes last up to 2 hours so thats why i'm going longer without feeling movement. But its amazing to know she's doing well in there. My midwife did say to me today as she's head down she's probably just really comfy in there & can only really wriggle & kick every so often. I'm just going to keep an eye on her movements & if i feel like they are any further reduced i will definitely be going back to triage. Even if she's fine,i'd rather have a wasted journey than worrying myself sick.

Glad to hear everything is okay :) yeah safe is definitely best! Sometimes I feel mine wriggling all day, other days I'll go a good few hours without feeling her. So glad to hear you're both okay xx

Hi girls. Just to update, today I haven't really felt much movement with dd at all. I had a bath about 4 hours ago and she was flipping about but since then its not been much at all which is out of the ordinary for her. I'm considering whether to go to triage or not. Ive been laying on my left side for about 40 minutes and i have felt 10 movements but its just really different comparing to yesterday she was flipping about. I'm just worried that she has been so active she's hurt herself and can't move much. I'm gonna give it another hour and if no improvement i will be calling triage. I have monitoring in the morning but I don't want to wait if things continue this way. I'm really worried Sad

I have a feeling they are starting to get annoyed with me TeaPleaseLouise as I have been numerous times. I almost feel like when i go they think 'ugh her again'. But I'm gonna eat something sweet & see if that works, if not..straight to triage.

I am on my way to triage now just because her movements have been so decreased today & now i am having period like cramps. When i put my coat on she did do a big wriggle and since then i have gotten a few punches. But something still doesn't feel right to me..i have a gut feeling so i am still going to head over.

I had exactly this and when ds was born my placenta was HUGE and has been cushioning his movements!

That said, keep going in if you are worried, that's what the midwives are there for and they really don't mind...better to be safe than sorry! Good luck Flowers
