Starting IVF at private clinic in London. Immunology tests results showed mild risk of blood clotting, being prescribed Clexane (40mg) from Egg collection thru delivery of child (if IVF successful). 3quick questions please!

Clinic using PharmaSure which has priced them at £5.30 each. Anyone find better pricing?

Anyone try to get the prescription from NHS (bringing the Immunology results with) and were you successful?

Did anyone pursue a second opinion from a hemotologist? I am with a top clinic in London, one that specializes in IVF Immunology but wonder if they are being ridicuously conservative. I have a son already and never had issue with that preg / no miscarriages

TIA

Hi Imbali.

I don't have experience in this particularly but there is a wealth of knowledge over on the infertility board, may be worth posting over there. I lurked for a long time and all the advice really helped me through my most recent cycle.

Good luck xxx

I had clexane but can't remember where I got it from. Seem to remember the price of the clexane paled into insignificance compared to other meds I had. Didn't try and get it on the NHS, now wondering why I didn't think of that! It's worth a try.
Did not get second opinion from haematologist as it was my 4th cycle of icsi that I had the clexane with, I changed clinics for this cycle and had immunological testing etc, so I was happy to follow the advice of the clinic to the letter. This was our last cycle and it was successful so no regrets. For the sake of a £5.30 per jab injection I would go with their advice. Otherwise if it fails you will think, hmmm I wonder if it would have been different if I had taken th clexane.
Good luck

Hi, have you tried asda? They don't charge VAT on or mark up fertility drugs. I'm on fragmin and 10 days is £28 something but Lloyds wanted to charge about £80!

That is waaaaay overpriced. Get googling. Oxford online pharmacy have them for £36.30 for 10, and I think I bought them at about £2.50-£3 a go from my clinic's pharmacy.

Also I was told one a pregnancy is established the NHS should provide meds requires to maintain it. I was only on Clexane til 7 weeks but I got my supply of progesterone support up to 12 weeks prescribed by my GP (clinic wrote to them) from that point up to 12 weeks.
