Bounty

Just read a very interesting article about a petition to stop allowing Bounty on wards.

This is my first baby, and I've heard previously of pushy photographer etc, but this article mentioned they give you the child benefit form and use it as a way to get information.

Can anyone shed any light on this - do you need to fill it out, is it better to refuse/can you do it yourself after or will it delay thing etc?

Any experiences/knowledge welcome :)

I was ready to tell the bounty ladies that I didn't want a photo etc but everytime they came round I was feeding ds so they didn't ask that and my bitch resting face!
They didn't leave the pack of crap either
We printed the child benefit form off and when dh registered the birth the registrar signed it all and sent it off.
No need for bounty what so ever!

I just told the bounty woman that I wasn't interested and she left me alone! I downloaded the child benefit forms and filled them in at home. Bounty have nothing to do with child benefit.

They brought me a pack which had the forms and some crappy freebies. We did actually have the photos done and they were really nice! But they weren't pushy particularly, we sent them away a few times as he was sleeping or feeding when they came. They just drop the pack off and coo at your baby in my experience.

They toon some details and then left again. Just tell them no if they keep asking. I already received the emails but you could easily give them a false one if you just wanted left alone.

Here is the link - you can have it all printed and ready for when your baby arrives or you have a whole to register

We downloaded the cb form and sent it away with the birth certificate. You do not need bounty to give it to you. My bounty lady was very nice, I said no thank you politely and she smiled and said okay. I'm guessing she didn't steal my details as I'm not buried under an avalanche of junk mail :)

Download the benefit form from the Internet and tell the bounty rep to leave you alone.

Slightly related, but not totally, if you have the CB form with you when you register your baby, the registrar can certify the form and then you don't need to send the birth certificate off.

As for bounty, I love a freebie, so I had the pack, said no to the photos and gave them a fake email address and mobile so they didn't bother me again.

The maternity unit where I work have stopped their bounty contract thankfully!

Like pps you can just download the CB form online.

I was a bit surprised that they let bounty into the wards and do think it's unfair on those who don't have the money or are feeling vulnerable. BUT I did get photos done and they were lovely and I have one up in my sitting room. It's so nice to have a good one of DC2 when he was just a day old and I was far too ill to organise a photographer myself. I actually didn't buy the photo immediately it was over a year later that I got it so don't feel u have to buy there and then. Keep the details they give u and you can get it years later if you want.
