Bump touching

Does anyone find it uncomfortable when others touch oand/or want to touch their bump? I'm 18+5 and have had a couple of people just touch my bump without asking and one close friend who I knew would touch my bump when she next saw me after I told her I was pregnant. I rub my bump all the time but find it really strange when others do it

Oh god - a total and utter stranger did it to me in the line in Starbucks the other day!! GET OFF!!

And one of my colleagues does it all the time. Gives me the rage!

I don't mind friends and family touching my bump. I've never had a stranger try though, why would they think that's ok?!

Nikki2ol6 Wed 28-Sep-16 20:36:31

I had someone ask me if she could touch mine once as she said it means good luck! I said ok and she cupped he bottom of it s if she was picking up a basket ball hmm

Nobody tries it with me. I have a resting bitch face.

I had a total stranger touch my bump at a recent bbq. I was too shocked to say anything! I've never heard of it being good luck!

I had this with someone at work. I'm not even showing! They said congratulations and immediatel lunged in and stroked - I was in the middle of a (work related) conversation with someone else and just gaped!

I've only had a few people do it this pregnancy - I HATE it. I've taken to jumping away as impolitely as I can while waving my hands at anyone who tries. It's just weird to grope at someone like that.

I particularly hate it because I had a diastasis recti last pregnancy so this time the middle of my bump feels really weird and vulnerable, like the nerves are all stretched.

I've had 3 or 4 people touch mine. Only one person asked.

Ha! I started a thread about this recently too. I hate it! I feel guilty though that DH is now asking before he touches the bump grin

I'm weird I don't mind it, with the exception of the friend who grabbed too hard. I'm constantly touching it anyway because I still find it hard to believe I'm pregnant.

Everyone, except dh, does ask though.

MyBreadIsEggy Thu 29-Sep-16 08:36:18

I don't mind DH doing it, or my toddler lifting my top and saying "HI BABY!", which she does a million times a day....but when it's other people, it creeps me out hmm

Someone did it to me at work, I was pregnant with twins and she asked if they were natural, felt like telling her to mind her own business but just went on break instead. Really hate people touching me

Squtternutbosch Thu 29-Sep-16 09:40:12

Uuuuurgh I hate this.

Someone at work asked me if she could touch my stomach because she wanted to "feel the baby moving". She was really new and I'm her manager. It was over familiar and weird and made me hugely uncomfortable.

I don't even like my friends doing it tbh. Baby's dad, and my mum. That's it.

Crazycatlady123 Thu 29-Sep-16 13:22:04

I can't bare this, fortunately my resting bitch face keeps strangers at bay from doing this 😂

Went out few weeks ago when I was about 17 weeks and my two friends that are sisters did it to greet me exclaiming "sorry but we're touchers hahaha"

Unless it's my DH or mum, I'm not a tactile person, I don't like to be touched, hands off the bump!

KayTee87 Thu 29-Sep-16 17:09:21

I hated it, the only person I don't mind touching me is my husband. Didn't stop everyone bloody grabbing me though angry

catx1606 Thu 29-Sep-16 18:30:51

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it strange. So far, only one person has asked and another waited for me to ask her if she wanted a feel of the bump but others have just stroked like I'm public property. One friend who I don't see very often just kind of prodded me when she saw me. I'm so shocked most of the time that they think it's OK that I don't say or do anything

catx1606 Thu 29-Sep-16 18:31:27

I'll take a look at that EllieM22

helensburgh Thu 29-Sep-16 18:32:32

It is odd. I don't like it but what I hate is random people touching and holding a baby's hand. Ahhhhhh

FairyDogMother11 Thu 29-Sep-16 19:23:20

One of my friends is pregnant, I'd love to touch her bump because it's just amazing, she's growing two tiny people. But I'd never touch her without asking, and I wouldn't ask her either. If she offered that would be different but her body is hers and she is free to do with it as she will.

catx1606 Sat 01-Oct-16 07:43:34

FairyDogMother11 that's how I'd like everyone to be. It's shocking how many people just aren't like that.

Funny though that when a friend touched and talked to my bump the other week, there was no response from baby yet I get movement all the time when it's me doing it.

The other week I was in my local suormarket and saw a friend who just prodded my tummy without saying a word, I tempted to do the same back to her if she does it again lol

SpaceDinosaur Sat 01-Oct-16 08:06:55

I clearly have a good resting bitch face because noone's touched without asking. And they have all asked. "Do you mind"

But, if someone touches without permission, just grab their body too. Their stomach or boob, whatever. And when they look shocked say "I thought we were going for inappropriate touching without consent?"

Elland Sat 01-Oct-16 08:21:56

I don't know why people find it acceptable to touch pregnant women, you wouldn't walk up to someone with a big beer belly and start rubbing it would you! Weird!

I also really don't appreciate the constant comments from strangers saying how big I am for how far on I am hmm someone referred to me as fatty the other day angryangryangry

thecatsarecrazy Sat 01-Oct-16 09:43:06

Never had this happen to me and I'm expecting dc3. I must have one of those faces grin. My mil did it to my bil girl friend and it made me cringe a little. I like it when my sons put their little hands on my tummy.
