Gestational diabetes in first trimester?

Hi everyone,

I had GD with my last pregnancy. Currently 5weeks ish pregnant again. I did a few blood sugar tests with my monitor from the last pregnancy and have had a few high readings. Is it possible to get GD this early? I did have a blood test after giving birth last year and all was fine.

Anyone any experience of this? I'm worried as you hear all kinds of scare stories about uncontrolled blood sugars in first trimester.

Have a midwife appointment on Monday, with the specialist diabetes team, so can ask more then, and started trying to implement my diet from last time, but wanted to hear others experiences.

Thanks!

I was diagnosed at 12 weeks - so towards the end of the first trimester. All ok so far.... touch wood! X

What diet did they give you last time? Sounds like a good idea to start that again just in case tbh, and mention it at booking in so they can do a test ASAP.

It is possible yes, it's happened to someone I know. It sounds like you are seeing the right people very soon so do get properly checked.
