D&V at 11 weeks pregnant, any advice?

I am ill. I have had D&V since 2am. Feel like death warmed up. Don't know whether it's a bug or the Chinese takeaway I ate last night. I am keeping sips of water down, just. Absolutely no way in hell I could eat anything.

I'm 11 weeks. Do I need to call the midwife? Or just ride it out?

Yuck, poor you. But don't worry. If you are otherwise healthy, your pregnant body has natural defences to ensure baby is protected. The good news is if you are now keeping down small sips of water, the only way is up. Keep up the water to prevent dehydration. If it goes on longer than 48 hours then I think I'd make contact with midwife for reassurance if nothing else. But for now, treat as normal stomach bug and slowly reintroduce bland food when you feel ready. Remember, you can't take things such as Imodium when pregnant but rehydration sachets like Dioralyte are fine. Get well soon OP xx

Thank you. That's really reassuring. I was just starting to have some nausea free days and now this, feels somewhat unfair!

I had a bug twice during pregnancy. Try and keep hydrated. Ice lollies are really good.

If you're feeling unwell tomorrow then call midwife i'd say. In the meantime try and get lots of rest. Also try and get lots of fluids down you to flush out the bug and keep bleaching the loo to kill the bug. Get well soon.

Thanks all. Still feeling incredibly rough. DH called the midwife as he was worried. She was very sympathetic but suggested giving it 48 hours and calling GP for advice if no better.

The worst thing is the pregnancy super sense of smell. I can smell fabric softener on the bed sheets which is making me sick, I despise the smell of handsoap (we have 3 kinds and they are all repulsive to me, but of course it's vital I wash my hands at the moment), DH fed the cats in an entirely different part of the house and I could still smell their (perfectly normal) food, DD brought a chocolate biscuit up which made me retch. I am feeling very sorry for myself!
