Panicking! Someone please reassure me

Hi guys

So today I had my first appointment with my midwife (I'm 6 weeks 5 days). I was due at the hairdressers tonight, so I asked if it was ok to dye your hair whilst pregnant and she told me it was absolutely fine; as long as I wasn't using peroxide.
I am going darker, so no peroxide, but as I'm sat here waiting for the hair dye to process on my scalp, I've read online I should've waited until the second trimester!

I am now absolutely terrified that the chemicals from the dye are going to get into my blood stream and harm the baby.

Can someone give me some reassurance - anyone dye their full head of hair in the first trimester?

Thanks in advance! X

STEP AWAY FROM GOOGLE. It's FINE. The NHS says it's fine. Your midwife says it's fine. IT'S FINE.

Me, both when expecting DD and in this pregnancy (14+2 now, baby looking fine), and probably thousands of women across the country. The main issue is that your skin and hair can react differently so you should have had a patch and strip test before dyeing it. (Not that I ever did).

Nhs says some people may choose to wait until the second trimester, it doesn't say that you need to. Hair can be unpredictable when pregnant and colours may not come out right or scalp can be more sensitive, etc. I very much doubt there is any danger to the baby at all

Personally obdid nothing to hair, nails etc but that's be jade I'm a worrier- now I'm a mum I think it's unlikely to be a cause for concern particularly if pp said its fine on nhs website
