so its 7 weeks 4 days since last period, found out 3 weeks ago that I'm pregnant, havent had any symptoms yet,my boobs were a bit sore but nit anymore, started having brown discharge on Saturday, went to weekend docs and they told me to go to the epu at the hospital, got an app for yesterday, had an internal scan and they can see a sac but no yolk or fetal pole, was told there are 3 possible outcomes,1 the baby is too small and that is why it cant be seen,2 I am going to miscarry and 3 it could be ectopic, they did blood tests yesterday and said that I have to go back for more tomorrow to see if the hcg has doubled,if it has then that's good if it has dropped its a miscarriage and if it stays the same that would be ectopic,i know I only have to wait til tomorrow but its driving me mad waiting,i haven't had any proper bleeding the brown stuff I had they say is normal spotting, also when scanned they said I have a cyst on an ovary which they said shoudnt cause any problems unless it gets bigger, anyone had anything like this?im really worried

also the sac they said would put me at 4 and a half to 5 weeks pregnant rather than 7,but as my period was 7 weeks ago 5 weeks would be about right wouldn't it?

How worrying for you. Unfortunately, it sounds as though there's not much you can do now but wait. What could MN do on this thread to hold your hand and help you through the waiting?

Is there any chance you are much earlier than thought? If you found out 3 weeks ago then you must be at least 6 and a half weeks X

my last period was 7 weeks ago,so you wouldn't conceive until two weeks after that?so I could be 5 ish weeks?

Not necessarily - it depend on the overall length of your cycle, and when within your cycle you ovulate. Some women ovulate as early as 7 days after the start of their periods, which would make them a week further ahead in pregnancies than the usual calculations would suggest.

Sorry - pressed send too soon. Meant to say that equally some women ovulate as late as 24 days into a cycle, which would make them a week or two behind behind what their LMP date would suggest.

I think at this stage there is as much chance that you are just a bit behind your dates than anything being wrong. I rally hope you get good news.

Unfortunately there's honestly no way to be sure until a doctor can confirm :/ brownish bleeding or spotting CAN be part of a completely healthy pregnancy and is relatively common but of course it is worrying and should always be checked.

The good news is that you're definitely in a position where you could be wrong about your dates if you're not entirely sure when you ovulated/concieved. If that's the case it could just be a case that you were scanned early and it's quite usual not to hear a heartbeat and see only a sack at that point.

Hoping that is the outcome for you! Flowers

You're 5 weeks 4 days pregnant going by your last period but then there's no way you would have found out you were pregnant 3 weeks ago as you would only just have ovulated.

You'd be very unlikely to see a hb at 5+4 but should see it at 7+4. Depends on what you actually are...

Are you sure the dates you put above are correct?

Ignore my last post - it makes NO sense whatsoever having reread yours!

I had a scan at what I thought was 8 weeks but what turned out to be 6 weeks (photo attached) after going in to hospital with severe cramps. I was told it means my cycle/dates were just very out or there was a problem with development. Turns out everything was just very out and I ovulated 2 weeks later than usual. I didn't get any symptoms until about 7 weeks at which point I got symptoms so bad I was signed off work for a month !

Laura you might want to edit that photo, I'm not sure posting your dob online is a good idea - it's often a security question for things.

Hi there Laura,
We hope you don't mind but just to be on the safe side we have removed that photo as in conjunction with your user name it puts rather a lot of your personal info online.
If you would like to change your username, just click on "MyMumsnet" at the top of the page, log in with your email address, and then click on Registration details. You should see a field for chat nickname about halfway down the page. Set it to whatever you want and then click save.

Flowers for pissedoff. We've all been there, waiting for results absolutely sucks. Hoping it works out for you. x

Really hope you get some encouraging news pissedoff. I am in a very similar situation - had an early scan beginning of this week after some brown discharge, spotting and upper (not lower) abdominal pain. I should have been 6+1 based on LMP. Scan showed only sac, no yolk or fetal pole.

Sonographer said they would expect to see more if I really was 6 weeks and that maybe the dates were off. I had high hopes that was the reason, given that my cycles are irregular and can be long. But they took blood and yesterday called to say my HcG at the beginning of the week was 18000, which is consistent with 6 weeks. They're not repeating HcG because they said once it gets to that level it doesn't go up dramatically everyday necessarily, so they can't tell much from it.

I have to wait until the end of next week to get scanned again but I keep thinking that if I was 6 weeks they should have been able to see something. The waiting is one of the worst things I have ever experienced and I'm finding it really hard to keep going, so you have every sympathy.

Thinking of you and wishing you all the very best. It's perfectly possible that the dates are just off, as other posters have said. I would ignore LMP as it's when ovulation happens that matters and that could have happened late.

And I know that it's generally not a good idea to keep googling things but I have looked online and found some very encouraging stories of people who had exactly this situation and whose dates were off or who, just for some reason, had an anomalous scan.

It's impossible not to worry but there seem to be plenty of people on various message boards in this situation who go on to have completely healthy pregnancies.
