Missed Miscarriage at 11 weeks. How long to pass?

Hey everyone. Just found out we have had a MMC at 11+4. We seen the babies heartbeat at 6 weeks and everything was looking good. At the scan it showed that baby hasn't progressed past this.

I have had light spotting for a couple of days which has now turned into quite heavy blood.

I am hoping for a D&C next week (this is the soonest available) but I think everything will have passed.

Does anyone have any similar experiences on how long it took them? The sonographer told us everything was still intact and wasn't coming apart yet.

Thanks for reading

So sorry to hear that you are going through this. I had a MMC in March 2015 (I was 11+6, pregnancy stopped developing at 8 weeks). It was a twin pregnancy which I only found out about when they scanned me and found no heartbeats. I had 3 days of brown spotting before having proper bleeding and cramps. I passed one sac on the day the heavy bleeding started, and the second about 4 days later. After the second sac passed most of the period type pain then stopped. When they scanned me two weeks later everything had passed naturally. There is a lot of info in the pregnancy loss forum in mumsnet (in body and soul section) including a thread about 'practicalities of miscarriage' which may be good to look at. Best wishes Flowers

I went through this too. Prepare yourself for cramping and contractions. I bled heavily for a week, contractions started on the 7th day of bleeding and then I woke up in the early hours of the morning with the urge to push. Everything came away together. Baby still inside the sac. I couldn't see baby and didn't look to closely as it was pretty traumatic. It was about the size of my palm. I hope you get your d&c, but if you don't get there, think about what you want to do with your baby. Have a container in the bathroom ready if you decide you want to bury your baby. You can just flush the toilet or take baby to the hospital and they will take the remains if you want to. I bought some white tissue paper (the stuff you'd wrap a gift in) and wrote my baby a letter. I wrapped him up in the paper and buried him in a planter with a plant we had chosen together called 'Winter Sun'. Dh and I regularly talk to our plant and it is nice to have a spot to go to. You must do whatever you feel is right. I am so, unbelievably sorry that you are going through this. Please feel free to send me a message and ask questions. You can ask anything. I felt so scared, alone and isolated. I never want to think of another woman going through that. Flowers

Thank you both for replying.

I think I'm beginning to contract already. It seems to be coming and going every 20 minutes or so. The pain is exactly how I felt in labour with DD - all in my hips and thighs!

I don't want to pass the baby into the toilet and I'm so scared I do, for me it feels to final. I can't stop picturing what our babies face would look like and every time I look at DH it sets me off again Sad

What an awful cruel world we live in. I feel for any woman who has to go though this it has been one of the most painful, traumatic days in my life.

Thank you both for the support xx

Hi green trees, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this as well. It truly is awful. I haven't left our house in 2 days as I'm scared I pass everything when I'm out. I pray everything has passed naturally for you. My bleeding has almost stopped after only 2 days and I think my body is playing another cruel trick on me Sad. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time xxx

the scan showed it was still there. I was told I can have another 2 weeks of this before it goes naturally so I'm hoping on Monday I'll be able to book in for surgery to remove it. it's weird that I've prayed for it to stay for so long and now I just want it out!
