Hi everyone I'm 23 weeks pregnant and haven't had a risk assessment from my work. I actually work in a nail/brow bar in the middle of town centre I have some worries as it's very crammed in struggling to bend and suffering with SPD I need to sit all day or stand I work with chemicals such as monomer, acetone and nail polish remover. I can sometimes be working 6 hours and don't get a break I also work 9 hours with 1 half an hour break I understand people are worse off than me with their jobs but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do it's always hot aswell and I'm told I'm not allowed a fan I don't want to be a drama queen but I just feel miserable

Do you have a manager who is responsible for HR? The shop owner? I take it you're an employee, rather than someone who rents the space?

Yes I have a manager I don't know why but I feel like I'd be pissing them off if I asked for 1 not sure if they have a HR department

You have to ask for one- it's your baby and that's more important than potentially pissing them off.

They really should offer one, it's outrageous that they don't.

www.hse.gov.uk/mothers/ Have a read of here. They have a legal duty of care under health & safety law so shouldnt' be stopping you having a fan and the chemicals could harm your baby.

Good luck!

You are not being a drama queen at all!! They should have completed one by now, the things you're struggling with are exactly what the assessment is for Confused definitely ask them to do one!!
