Convincing lie about blood test

ConvincingLiar · 25/08/2016 22:41

I'm having a blood test tomorrow while on holiday, so it's obviously not routine. Later on tomorrow night my parents are joining us for the weekend. My mum is bound to spot it as I always bruise badly. I don't particularly want to tell them I'm pregnant/miscarrying yet. I can't think of anything less worrying to say though. Any thoughts?

Having your thyroid or iron levels checked.

Donated blood?

Can you really not tell your mum? You're close enough to holiday together.

Infected insect bite, covered with a plaster?

If you bruise easily could it not have been the result of some sort of clumsiness? I bruise easily and am frequently somewhat surprised to discover random bruises from bumping into furniture etc.

Wear long sleeves

Nicnak I could, but I'd rather not worry her.

I don't think I'll manage long sleeves for the whole weekend (unless the weather turns to shit). Blood donation seems most convincing and I've done it on the spur of the moment before. Last but one time I tried they cocked it up and left me with a 3-4inch bruise.

Thyroid check as you have been feeling tiredness, putting on weight and very cold and a bit moody

A GP friend recently recommended I had a thyroid check, but I don't think it's such an urgent thing I'd get it done as a temporary patient.

But do get the thyroid check done. It can affect your ability to get pregnant and stay pregnant. If you're TTC then it could really be important.

And sorry that you're having to get this done on your holiday. I hope it's good news for you.

Thanks KickAssAngel.

Trifleorbust that probably fits in pretty well.

Just tell her!

No need. After all that the HCA did a great job and you'd really struggle to tell I'd had a needle in there.

Plaster to cover an insect bite. Or a cardigan
