Eep!! Any advice this morning? Bloody show and contractions

So I didn't sleep too well last night, something wasn't right but I couldn't fathom what. Baby wouldn't stop moving and I kept getting back pain like I would before period comes.

At about 4am I went to the loo and I'd had a bloody show. Definitely bloody, and definitely a show. I started having mild contractions about an hour later. They're unpleasant but they're not agony - it's like the onset of my period was. Tolerable but I would happily go without it. Been getting those about every five minutes.

I'm due at midwife this morning for a sweep anyway and am going to give her a call in an hour or so to just ask what I should do. OH has gone to work for now but he's coming to hospital with me later.

I'm 40 + 3 today. Anyone any experience of bloody show and what happened later?

Didn't have a bloody show in either labour, but I think I would ring the labour ward now, explain what's been going on, and ask them what they think you should do.

I'd call the ward and see what they suggest. It's likely they'll tell you to wait if you're coping well and the contractions aren't strong, but my sister thought her contractions were mild and ended up getting rushed in and nearly giving birth in the corridor because she didn't think she could be in proper labour yet.

Sounds like it's starting but it's impossible to say whatcwillhappen next. I carried on in slow pre-labour for days with my first, others delivered within hours. Keep walking and drinking as that should speed things up. Good luck!

I'm just going to have a dunk in the bath for a bit and see if that helps. I think my OH reckons I'll be picking him up and dropping him back off at work this morning. Get the feeling I may not be!!

Contractions are manageable, I'm not in agony but I had horrific periods so don't know if I'm just in tune with it!

I'll ring ward shortly. I'm both excited and freaking terrified!!

Take some paracetamol, enjoy your bath, try and eat some breakfast and maybe have a lay down and see if you can get a little rest. If not able rest keep active and see if these contractions pick up... Lots of walking up and down stairs, use birthing ball if you have one, go for a walk.. You're looking for contractions every 2-3mins lasting a good 45-60secs, that you need to breathe through and consistently for a couple of hours.... You could go to your midwife appt if you had wanted as she can examine you rather than going up to hospital straight away.

Always call hospital if you have a fresh bleed, reduced movements, waters break and its green colour, feel unwell

I was thinking of going to midwife as normal for that reason - don't think I'll need the sweep now! Have taken some paracetamol and am just trying to relax. Think I'll ring the assessment centre when I get out.

Turned out I was 2 cm dilated, had the sweep which was bloody horrible! Then I went To the assessment centre where they assessed me at 4cm. Up to labour ward to reach 7cm after eight hours, to then go back down to 4!

After 24 hours of contractions that increased in agony but made no difference to my dilation I was sent for a c section this morning and our little boy arrived safe and sound! Through the monitoring he was always absolutely fine so they were never worried about him, just me lol.

It was a very long and very emotional day that I couldn't have done without my OH. He talked me through them all and held my hand as often as needed. It was an amazing moment when our son arrived and the whole dreadful business has now zapped itself from my memory!

Just want to update - he's so beautiful!
