Not posted here before, although have lurked! I recently discovered I'm pregnant and have a scan booked on 30th. I'm probably about 9 weeks, maybe a little less. Haven't had many symptoms apart from tiredness and very sore boobs. Last night I felt a little crampy and my boob pain pretty much disappeared, then this morning when I wiped there was a little pinkish blood there. This has not happened at all before. Now my boobs barely hurt at all and I'm getting intermittent tiny cramps. Any idea what this could be? Does it sound like a miscarriage? I'm at work at the mo so can't get to doctors till this afternoon. Sad

Spotting in early pregnancy is fairly common, as is mild cramping etc, so it could be that all is OK. I had spotting between about 7 and 11 weeks - sometimes quite a bit of it. It was really terrifying at the time but ultimately OK. Can you get to your local EPAU? They will be able to advise you and do a scan to check everything is OK.

Hi, I am about the same as you - 9 weeks. I had some spotting last week. I had about a teaspoon about of blood, then i've had brown when I wipe occasionally since. I have had cramps, but more early on. Not for the past week. My boobs also feel less sensitive the past couple of days. So I think we are in the same boat!

I called the EPU the day I got the blood and they mentioned not to worry, like Honeybee said, it's fairly common. She said to only worry if you get a heavy bleed. If this happens, its not always bad, but they can offer a scan to check. This is my first pregnancy, so i'm learning as much as I can at the moment.

I would call yourdoc/midwife too, just to see what they say. They might offer a scan :)

Congratulations!

I have lightly spotted all the way through from about 7 weeks. I had 2 early scans and everything was fine so fingers crossed for you. The midwife also said to me that you only have to worry if the bleed is like a period.

Thanks so much. I have a GP appointment this afternoon so fingers crossed all ok. God, it's so horrible. I feel guilty now about browsing maternity jeans before my scan! (Completely irrationally!) Ain't it great to be a woman?

I just thought I'd tell you my experience - hopefully to set your mind at ease!

I was in exactly the same situation, and had spotting at around 7 weeks with mild cramp. It's first baby so OH and I were really worried and called NHS 24, told to just wait and see. 24 hours later, more pain, more bleeding, almost like AF.

Called NHS 24 again who told me i had to go for an emergency scan. Went to our emergency doctor at 1am on a Saturday morning to be told, very casually, that it's a threatened miscarriage and we need to go for an emergency scan at a A&E about an hour away. Heartbroken, My husband and I drove in tears to the A&E. We arrived to speak to a triage nurse who told us it was completely normal to have light bleeding and that it is your body's way of "clearing out".
(Also found out scans only happened Mon-Fri) so we were booked in for a scan on Monday and after a long weekend my husband saw our wonderful little baby. The size of a grain of rice with a healthy little flicker on the screen of our baby's heart.

Ever since then it seems baby has done everything in its power to let me know it's there! Terrible morning sickness, Nausea, Cramps and all the other wonderful things your body does.... I've learned to appreciate it all as I see it as baby's way of giving me a thumbs up that it's still there and that it's ok! Smile

This happened to me too - she's now 4 years old! So try not to worry.

I've had this in both my pregnancies, the first ended in MMC, and with this pregnancy I ended up bleeding for about 5 weeks, and am now heading towards 29 weeks with what has been a textbook (but emotionally taxing!) pregnancy. My symptoms came and went in the first trimester with this pregnancy and I was convinced it was all over, as I had no symptoms in my first failed pregnancy. And by 'came and went' I mean I would have a day or two in a row around where you are now where I would fee completely normal. If you can't get a Dr referral for a scan at the EPU then do go for a private scan. Good luck, once I started sharing what happened to me in this pregnancy so many friends have said they had bleeding too. It's really very common!
