Supplements price - how much is too much?...

Hello!

I'm looking at some supplements and they look really good quality, have everything I need and not full of fillers etc like some of the cheaper high street brands... They're £40/month - is it insane to pay this much? Or would you guys do the same? My pregnancy paranoia is hitting hard! Please help! Confused

Thanks!

For vitamin supplements? I'd say yes it's insane! As long as they've got the recommended amounts (esp of folic acid and vitamin D) in them it'll make zero difference whether you get cheap, mid-range, of ridiculously expensive ones!

Yes that's ludicrous. Just get some generic vitamin D and folic acid. Or if you're feeling flush you can get the Pregnacare type ones. £40 vitamins are a marketing ploy and nothing more.

It was widely reported a few weeks ago that vitamin supplements are not necessary (you should take foilic acid for first 12 weeks). I don't bother with any. Just try and eat well after the the sickness has passed (if it does!).

Word, that might be okay for some but I dropped my prenatal in favour of just folic acid and vitamin D a few weeks ago (when I was 18 weeks) and ended up exhausted and with painful, dry skin and lips. 2 weeks back on the prenatals and I'm back to feeling good again. Some people really need the extra help.

I used the Seven Seas Pregnancy Plus Follow On vitamins whilst pregnant. I still do whilst expressing milk. They are roughly £15 for 4 weeks, but are often on 3 for 2 offers.

I am taking Pregnacare (growing twins so I also take Spatone sachets in orange juice daily to keep my iron levels up) and my friend used the Seven Seas ones. Although I haven't had any problems I have read about multivitamins making ladies feel ill so maybe try some out and see how you get on
