I'm 9 weeks pregnant and all I wana do is sleep. I sleep around 10hours at night (getting up about 4 times to pee) as soon as it hits around 2-3pm I need a nap.

Is this normal so early on? Or could it be my thyroid levels?

This is normal, you'll find it wears off after 12 weeks. Your body is very busy making a baby in these early stages so tiredness is very common.
Enjoy the time you can rest 😊

Totally normal and I am feeling exactly the same at the moment (8 weeks) just can't get enough sleep, sometimes I feel like I could just curl up on the spot, wherever I am, and sleep for a week!
Hope it passes for you soon x

I'm a serial napper anyway but it just seems so intense now Hmm

I used to live on coffee but have given it up since I found out I was pregnant because on the caffeine levels. Maybe it's coffee withdrawal haha

Normal. Sleep if you need too!

You don't have to give up coffee completely. I've enjoyed my morning coffee throughout my pregnancy. It gives me a small boost to get through work.

I'm exactly the same!! I had a full on break down at my husband on Saturday. He thinks I'm over reacting... Until I full on burst into tears!m and had a tantrum!! My boss has also never had children and when I tell her I'm tired she then goes on to tell me how tired she is too!! I JUST WANT SOME SYMPATHY AND A REST!!!!! Haha!! I've been quite lucky as it's the only thing really effective me. I'm now 10 weeks!! Grin

I think some people get more tired than others, I have had total exhaustion from about 6 weeks - now 35w. Now I'm in the 3rd trimester I do have the odd not exhausted day but not very many and never had the let up that most people talk about in the 2nd Confused

Completely normal - that first trimester is EXHAUSTING. As Unicorn says - your body is working hard to make a tiny little person.

When you hit your second trimester your placenta will take-over feeding the baby, and you'll start to feel a lot better.

What I found in the first trimester is that my body completely gave up on me ... I got spots, only wanted to eat beige good, my nails were terrible, hardly slept at night and was exhausted during the day, my hair was shit, I caught cold after cold...my body's only interest was in providing for the baby.

The second trimester is better - some days you'll feel so un--pregnant you will worry about that instead!

Regarding coffee, I went off it completely for the first and second trimester - but I was back on with gusto for the third - you can drink up to 200 micrograms of caffeine a day (a standard coffee shop coffee is usually about 150 micrograms - but you can check exact levels per coffee shop online).

...sorry Milligrams, not Micrograms

Imaginositys link is more reliable than me :)

It's normal, the tiredness. Am now deep into it for the third time. I think you'really right, though, that caffeine withdrawal probably also plays a role - I've always had an intense aversion to all coffee/tea/chocolate kick in mere hours before the exhaustedness hits, and I suspect there is some cause and effect there.

The tiredness hit me so hard and so suddenly I actually thought I was going to die. Rang the doctor thinking my thyroid has broken or something but turns out it's totally normal. Had to take some days off work and then have a lunchtime nap at work or I was incoherent by 3pm. Still taking lunch naps now but not incoherent in the afternoon, just knackered Smile
