Bleeding after scan

I'm 6w 5d and had my first scan today. Everything was fine, heard a heartbeat, measured at right size etc.

I just got home and there's been some bleeding. It's not loads but it's properly red.

I've had a little spotting before, but very 'dilute' - I'm using Cyclogest pessaries so there's a lot, er, coming out down there.

Anyone had any experience of this? I was briefly so happy and now I'm back to terrified. It's an IVF pregnancy after many failed attempts.

Sorry, in case it's not clear, it was a vaginal scan!

Ahh l had this with my 2nd pregnancy after a miscarriage but was a natural pregnancy, I was literally elated one minute (scan) and scared the next due to bleeding. I bled from about 6 weeks to 24. I remember having my 20 week scan I was so happy then waking up bleeding the next day. However I now have a 8 year old dd to show for the angst.

My bleeding wa generally very light but occasionally slightly redder but never any more until the end of the pregnancy. I can't tell you how many early pregnancy scans I had. Good luck and if in doubt get checked out.

I bled until I was 5 month pregnant with my DD. And at times it was bright red and soaked through my jeans on one occasion. She's currently pulling all the books of the shelves in the front room Wink

Thank you all so much for your replies, they're making me feel better. Sometimes the stress of waiting and hoping just seems unbearable! We'll go for another scan soon, whatever happens, just to see what's going on in there.

Hey!
I had the exact same thing - bleeding from a transvaginal scan in early pregnancy. My gyno said it was because of a cervical ectopy which is totally common and has no negative effect on your baby or yourself - it just means that your cervix is a little more sensitive than usual and can bleed when jabbed because of all of the hormones.
:)

Thanks! I've been googling since yesterday and I've seen lots of people saying it can be from the cervix getting bashed. There hasn't been any more so I'm hoping it was just that.
