Starting again!

Hi there. I found out I'm 7 weeks pregnant this week. Very unexpected. Hubby and I have a 16 yo and really did not think or want another child. We are surprised to say the least and def cautiously pleased.
I can barely even believe it's happening and have my booking appointment with midwives next week. I don't think I will actually settle or believe it till I have a scan. I feel more nervous now.
I truly feel like I'm starting from scratch, I'm wondering is there anyone else with huge gaps with their kids and how different is everything from when I had my son 16 years ago?

Hi ya firstly congratulations 😌 It is quite a surprise!
I was in hospital with gallstones only to be told that I was around 6 weeks pregnant, I had no idea also.
I had a scan and was actually 3 mths 😳 I have a an 11-year-old daughter and myself and boyfriend did not plan to have any more children however I'm very excited. I found the scan is more detailed than my first time round, I'm sure all guidelines will be different than years ago, so best thing is for us to embrace this like its our first pregnancy again 😉

Congratulations! I am in a similar boat. I am 9+6 and have an 18 year old.

I can't say anything has been different so far. But waiting for my scan in a couple of weeks.

I'm so pleased for you all!! My DS is 12 and I've been trying for three years with no luck! You guys will be fantastic as you already have the experience. Things probably will have changed but you have the previous experience to get on with things without worrying yourself into tears (as I did on numerous occasions as a first time mum!)

Thank you all. I'm 39 and worried about everything! I also seem to have an all day queasy feeling I didn't have with my son.

I'm nearly 39, pregnant with my 4th (although it was planned). Others are 20, 18 and 11 and this literally feels like number 1 all over again!

I have been incredibly more sick and knackered than I was in my other pregnancies. It's actually been debilitating. I'm nearly 16 weeks now and just coming out the other side but it's DEFINITELY harder as an old bird!!!
