I will not have one obviously because I'm not allowed, I'd never want to harm my baby. I am 10 weeks today! Yesterday I saw a poster of a runny egg and bacon sandwich and I really could have fucking eaten one ,I love runny eggs!
To top it all off morning sickness wasn't great yesterday haven't had any signs of it up until yesterday so barely ate anything as anything I ate just made me feel worse!
Anyone else want something to eat that they can't have? Flowers

Runny eggs are fine if they're lion stamped. I've been eating them all through my pregnancy.

Lion egg hens (as are all British chickens) are vaccinated against salmonella so you are fine.

Runny eggs are fine. If bought in uk supermarket they will have a lion stamp on egg and that means it's vaccinated against salmonella. You could eat it raw if you like

31 weeks here, and eaten runny eggs throughout. DH is a doctor and happily cooked them for me. I'm a scientist and just think the risks of contracting salmonella which then also affects baby as so incredibly low, that I can't get worked up about it.

I never want to harm my baby either, but doesn't mean I'm going to stop crossing roads in case I get hit by a bus.

Have one then!

If the egg is lion stamped then I thought that was ok? I'm 37 weeks pregnant and have occasionally had to give in to wanting uncooked Brie.

I had runny eggs many many times during pregnancy. Have a lion stamped one and enjoy. Don't take the pregnancy 'rules' too literally always. Everything in life is about calculated risk but you need to know what the risks are to make that judgement. I think you'll find quite a lot of room for making your own low risk decisions about things.

Read the updated NHS guidance and gorge yourself on runny eggs. Stop making yourself miserable over such a low risk.

If you're in the UK, we have been vaccinating chickens against salmonella since 1998. A lion stamped egg (pretty much all eggs in UK supermarkets) will not have salmonella so you can eat them runny.

Even the NHS says it's fine now!

I also ate runny eggs all the way through. Like others say if they are Lion stamped they should be fine. For example, when was the last time you ate a raw egg and got salmonella? As a pp said, it's about calculating risks.

NHS still says not to, thank you all for your advise but I won't be having one I'll just enjoy a bowl of coco pops instead Grin

Sorry you're feeling sick - nausea and vomiting can be pretty miserable. Hope it passes soon. After 10 weeks, for most women the morning sickness wears off over the next few weeks. Good luck with your pregnancy. Smile

A Lion stamped egg is considerably better for you than a bowl of coco pops!

I always had runny egg while pregnant. I didn't avoid anything, I didn't think to Blush well except alcohol of course! Grin next time your craving your runny egg just have it!

Another one here who ate runny eggs throughout both pregnancies - always lion stamped from supermarkets. Lion stamped means they are vaccinated against salmonella so I didn't worry.

Lion stamped eggs are safe.

Lion stamped eggs are supposed to be safe.

But if you'll worry and stress over it after eating one that's bad for the baby itself.

The latest NHS advice does not say that runny eggs are ok
