Did you go overdue?!

Hi ladies,
I am not due until August (EDD is August 26th) so currently 29W+1D.
I am just dreading the thought of going over due. If you went overdue, how much did you go over by?
Also do stretch and sweeps work? I was wondering if I could get one if I go over!

Yes, it's very normal, especially for a first baby. Normally only by a few days. One of mine was 10 days over.

Also do stretch and sweeps work? I was wondering if I could get one if I go over!

You really don't want to do that just for being a few days over. It's better not to fight your body if possible.

Why so worried a bout a few days? Do you especially want an August baby for some reason?

Dd - 4 days late
Ds1 - 15 days and induced
Ds2 - 16 days failed induction resulting in c section

I had so many s&s I lost count!

I'm of the opinion that babies come when they're ready and nothing will budge them otherwise

Yes, I had to be induced at 41 weeks with both of mine. Hoping to go into labour myself this time. If your body isn't ready, there's nothing much to be done - sweeps, walking up and down stairs, spicy curry, sex....nothing got my cervix going. Even the induction took 2 days with my first.

My DD arrived on her due date. Currently due with DC2 on 31st August so just a few days behind you and im hoping he arrives early/on time. I kept as active as possible by going for walks and I took raspberry leaf tea capsules from 36weeks and used my gym ball a lot to try and get babybin position. Baby will arrive when s/he is ready although i dread going over too

I'll buck the trend here. Had my first baby in March. Due date was the Saturday. I had a sweep on weds, a wonderfully Szechuan pork for tea on Thursday and was in labour at 11pm. Son was born 4:14 on Good Friday, a day before due date.
We weren't trying to hurry him up. The sweep was not particularly painful, a bit uncomfortable. I was already 1.5 dilated from long walks and bouncing on a yoga ball.

Good luck with it all! 😄

midwife will probably offer you a sweep on your due date. they usually do.

I did long walks, yoga, raspberry leaf tea etc and still went 41 + 5 with DS1!

40 weeks Monday with DS2 hoping to give birth soon!

Babies aren't really 'overdue' past 40 weeks though. Term is 37-42, but it is frustrating waiting past 40 weeks. And there's nothing you can do to speed it up apart from medical intervention!

Baby one - 42 weeks induced. I was 2cm when midwife did my sweep at 41 weeks, it didn't work.
Baby two - 40+5, spontaneous.
Baby three - 38 weeks, spontaneous.
Baby four - 34 weeks, spontaneous.

DD was 16 days late, I was induced on day 14 and she was born by emergency c section 2.5 days later - I had a sweep, twice actually, didn't work.

I'm due 26th Aug too 😁

I was induced at 41 weeks with ds I done everything to get him out bouncing, walks, sex, sweeps nothing worked. I would try to not think of late as 40 weeks I would expect to go anytime up until 42 then your late

I was a week over with my son and 10 days with my dd. Had a sweep with both, one 2 days before birth and one on Friday, birth Monday. Not sure if they help or not. I always think giving you a due month would be much more helpful. Good luck with everything.

I'm 41 weeks today, had 3 sweeps, long walks, sex and nothing is working so far. Curry and more sex tonight, fingers crossed! I was 9 days late with my first.

DC1 - started mild contractions at 40+6 after 2 sweeps. Arrived at 41 weeks

DC2 - had 3 sweeps (first was 39+5 or something as I was desperate to avoid induction). Labour started 40+4, arrived 40+5.

In both cases though I was already a bit dilated with a favourable cervix.

Oh, but all the midwives said sex was the most likely thing to get things started!

I was 10 days overdue with dd1,was due to go in for induction 8am,delivered her 4.35 am,had my second sweep the morning before at 10am went into labour 7pm.

Dd2 was delivered 5 days before her due date by c section for medical reasons, otherwise probably would have gone overdue again

I had a sweep booked for due date but wasn't engaged (first baby) so couldn't have one. Went 5 days over - waters broke on day 3, induced day 4 and had her day 5.
Was so frustrated though. Walked about 10 miles in the days preceding her birth (even though I was the size of a house!)

I got induced ten days after my due date. DS didn't come for a further two days after that..

I tried everything. Good luck though Flowers

12 days over with ds1, due date with ds2...

Look into Optimal Fetal Positioning - I am convinced it helped me avoid a long induction the second time. I do bake them longer anyway though: DD was 17 days late (with long 4 day induction), DS was 13 days over (natural labour, all over in 4 hours).

I hated the sweeps and they did nothing for me. I declined them the second time.

DS1 6 days late s+s did nothing.........
DS2 4 days late s+s broke waters and he arrived 29 hours later.

1 week early for me (after waters breaking 4 days previous) I think falling over and then having something hot for dinner helped me along. I wouldn't advise it

4 days over,
11 days over with 4 sweeps,
11 days over with 1 sweep (only had one sweep because there were no midwives available anywhere at all to do more!)

Dc1 14 days late and induced
DC2 16 days late - without induction (had expectant monitoring instead).

Was alright with the wait esp with DC2. just got on with my everyday stuff....

Yes had to be induced at the full 10 or is it 12 days. Had two unsuccessful sweeps which the midwife was really surprised didn't work as I was already 1-2cm dilated and fully effaced at the first one but DD was just too comfy!
